Try slipping a credit card or dl mid way down door to push lever in.

It has nothing to do with the "child lock" It is a know problem in this car, they tend to get caught in lock. Only thing to do, is to take of the panel then the outside handle, and through that hole destroy the plastic covering the lock, a large screwdriver and hammer will do! Then you can release the lock, while you pull the inside release handle. Buy new!

I have a 97 and there is no release for it. Just push on the right end of the gas cap door to open it. Hope that helps.

can you lift the lock knob up at all?? If you can lift it and the door stays locked, the linkage inside the door is broken.. if you can't lift it up, then the linkage is most likely seized... you'll need to remove the door panel to actually see it

sounds like the fuse that controls that switch has burned out. check your fuse panel and refer to either the manual. or to the cove for fuse location info. good luck.
also note if the fuse blows again then the problem might be related to a bad switch or a short condition ion the wire.
