SOURCE: Mercedes-Benz Transmission Fluid question

the transmission on your MB is sealed with no way to check the trans fluid level,(no dipstick provided for) that is why the report says "sealed". MB did this to stop customers from overfilling there transmissions, which can cause severe damage if not done properly at the correct fluid temp, this requires special test scan tools.

Yes cars with timing belts have a schedualed time in service manual for replacement. this is very important if it breaks then you might be replacing engine. when doing timing belt you also have other items like timing belt tensioner and timing belt pulleys as well most of the time the water pump is driven by the timing belt and should be replaced at the same time. also all seals as well cam seals crank seals ect. timing belt is one of the most important items on cars today . great question most people wait untill its to late when it breaks. and what ever shop does it make sure they have a mechanic that does timing belts regulary and that they ask you about all the parts I mentioned to you as well that they clean all factory parts before they go back on.

SOURCE: I have an engine fault code of p0170 on a mercedes

hi this is showing fuel trim bank 1 malfunction, this could be caused by the following things, intake leak, AIR system, fuel pressure/pump, injector/s EVAP canister purge valve, or HO2S ( air fuel mix incorrect) if it starts and runs fine, i do not think it will be fuel pump, or the injectors as this would make it run rough or even not start at all, if it was an intake leak, you would be suffering from high rev's when you start the car and would take a long time for the rev's to come down, so really, that just leaves the HO2S (sensor/s) these are located one on the exhaust manifold ( from engine follow exhaust manifold you will come to a things sticking out with some wires on) this is HO2S sensor bank 1, or if you look under the car on the exhaust, just past the catalytic converter you will see the same thing, this is HO2S sensor bank 2, it may be either of these, but i possibly would go for the first one, EVAP..it could be, if you have an air leak on it, the EVAP can be found under the hood/bonnet, at the front on the right hand side as you look into the engine/motor bay just in front of the screen was bottle...hope this helps

1999 Mercedes SLK Kompressor, can not locate the oil plug to change the oil...where is location?

The oil plug is located on the oil pan. If i remember correctly, on the M111 engine, it should be on the driver side at the lowest point on the side. You may have to remove a lower shield or belly pan to see it. They are usually 8mm bolts. I use an oil extractor or evaluator so I don't touch the drain plugs. I hope this helps.

Mercedes slk 230 kompressor supercharger doesn't kick in when gas pedal depressed to gain speed.

only a turbo "kicks in".a supercharger is a compressor that uses the speed of the engine, so the faster the engine the more pressure....use the gearbox for rapid acceleration....

Just but an Mercedez SLK 230 Kompressor 1999 and the hard top will not go down.

First check that you have oil on the hydraulic pump that it is inside the trunk on the rear right fender the oil should be between the marks. If thats ok check when you put the ignition on if the switch that operates the roof is on, should be off, on means that something is wrong, if blinks 6 times one of the 5 or 7 switchs are not closed, check one by one. check the two that close the trunk at the middle, the cover, the trunk limit switch, the trunk switch

I am looking for a replacement alternator. Mine

There are many parts places. We are here to help you in repair not finding parts.

You don't say if you want used or new parts. The Kompressor car is a very complicated automobile and most likely well above your expertise so please be careful if you intended to attempt this repair at home as one slight misjudgment and the turbine can be ruined for life.

I would just google for the part you need.
