When it shuts off it is time to check things out. Check fuel pressure on the fuel rail and check for spark at the plugs. If no spark the coils may be bad. As the engine heats up the inside of the coil pack may be seperating or grounding themself out. If fuel pressure is low the fuel pump may be weak and on its way out. This happens to people that run there car untill the fuel light comes on.it is ******* the fuel pump because the fuel it's pumping is what cools it. You can search on google or youtube for what your particular cars fuel pressure should be.
SOURCE: Starts fine when cold, after running dies on idle then wont start
Sounds like the fuel filter is dirty and needing to be changed. It's cheap and easy to swap out.
SOURCE: starts and runs great for 20 to 30 sec shuts off when i try to
Sounds like possible crank sensor failure, will work till warms up they have to cool, then will work again. Also monitor fuel preasure, fuel pumps can act this way too.
SOURCE: It starts fine runs for approx 10 min and then
it sound like you have a bad distributor, good luck.
SOURCE: i have an 86 ranger 5 speed with the 4 cylinder it
Have you checked it for spark when it dies? It sounds like a bad ignition module.
