I bought a ssangyong rexton about a month ago everything going well until somedays when i turned the key the just made a noise and did'nt start after a couple of gos the car would start.
My wife went shopping today she came back to the car and the car would not start.So the car was towed away to a garage.The starter motor was removed and tested and works fine.
So with the starter motor being ok we look futher under the bonnet and where the starter motor sits and the cog that the starter motor turns to start the engine the teeth on the cog are worn down the vechicle has only done 35000 miles and ran out of warranty in may 2009.
First has this happened to anyone else and if so how much did this cost to fix?
And does anyone have any advice what to do

Was told from the dealer that it would take around 8 to 12 weeks as there was a back log of parts coming from korea,So went to mercedes to order the part and they said that they were nothing to do with ssyangyong. so went to my local breakers yard and got a starter ring gear from a old mercedes 2.0ltr petrol auto engine and with a small amount of modifacation and three clamps and a eletric drill gun, lay the sourced ring gear on top of your old ring gear match up the large blank spaces,just make sure you sit the ring gear the right way round i.e the way it came off the car as you will see the mating hole dont totaly line up and one is out using your starter ring gear as a template drill out the hole that is out refit the replace ment ring gear to your car rebuild the box.
have done this three times to diffrent rexons now,and to date the cars have had no problems and run great . Ok not the shortes posts but it did not take 8 to 12 weeks to read or write.
part from the breakers yard £15, to drill the part 10 mins , to strip and rebuild the car including going to the yard one 10hrs total cost well thats up to who does the job for you but it not that hard a job to do.
I have a 2004 rexton estate , one of the plugs /injectors blew out and was badley repaired with gunk stuffed around the repair it is blowing fumes into tfhe car ,, can i have it drilled out and a sleeve put in ,, i am based in wicklow ireland ,, tel 087 2561963 thanks for any reply ..
The engine wont switch off. even the mechanics cant make it. how to solve it.
