SOURCE: 1998 Hyundai accent 1.3 engine noise tapping sound
sounds to me that it is using to much oil and its time for a rebuild or replacement. the noise you here is most likely lifters and tappets, when it gets low on oil it will do this, and if it gets to low it will burn up the rod and main bearings. what you need to do is deside what you want to do with the car, rebuild engine or replace, i don't have any idea on price, but all you have to do is call a local salvage yard and get a price on a used engine, and then a shop that does rebuilds. and weight the diiference, i think you will find it will be cheaper to just get another car. i can give you a gusstament on cost, used engine, 400 to 600 + labor, rebuild 1000 to 2000+ labor. remember thies are just guessaments. you will have to call around your area to get the correct prices.

SOURCE: Replace oil pan on my Hyundai accent 2004
You can try to re torque the bolts before you drop the pan and re place the gaskit if that is where your leak is coming from. Good luck and hope you don't have to drop the oil pan.
