2008 Honda Accord A/C blows cold from left vent, hot from right

I can get right vent to blow cold if I select dual and crank it down to the lowest setting but otherwise it blows hot even when A/C is set on cold.

It sounds like the actuator is stuck open on that side, forcing heat to be mixed. The actuator looks like a little shock-absorber and forces the mix of hot and cold air. They are usually way inside the dashboard near the firewall. You might need a mechanic to fix that one.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the response; yes I already got a quote for that from the dealer and it would be $100s; tech said it might be a bad sensor or other component. I'm thinking it might not be mechanical as it does blow cold but only if on the lowest setting (Lo). Are there any other things I could check before resorting to a mechanic?"

You may have already done this, but the one thing that got me through another year before fixing a similar issue was turning the blower all the way up and moving back and forth from hot to cold, and also moving the air around from up to down to vents a number of times.

You may have to have the body computer "flashed" by a dealer scan tool. Sometimes the body computer looses data when the battery is disconnected. Sometimes it relearns itself after a few trips.

Left Vents blow warm/hot air when calling for cold air

Usually a sign of a faulty blend door under the dash.
The blend doors direct air thru the ac and heater core along with the upper and lower vents.

Blows cold out of left defroster and hot air out of right

There are small doors within the heater/AC components located under the dash that direct the flow of air. Something has gone wrong with the operation of these doors.

I doubt this is a do-it-yourself project. Significant disassembly is required.

2003 accord air conditioner

Hi there. When a compressor is replaced, two things are in fact being replaced - both the compressor and the refrigerant (Freon) and if the problem is resolved as a result which of those two replaced elements caused the original problem? Well you will never know and so before the compressor is replaced you need to have you’re A/C system recharged – it’s by far the most cost effective initial thing to do. In general A/C systems loose at least 10% of their effectiveness each year through loss of refrigerant and so given the age of your car; it’s the first thing to focus on. A professional A/C centre will also be able to tell you whether your compressor is working properly after having a refrigerant recharge by the monitoring the operating pressures in the A/C system.

This is a common problem when the AC system has a low charge.
If this is the case, you have a leak somewhere. Do not try to fix it yourself without the proper equipment.
