Follow the radiator coolant hose, the one at the top inside of radiator, either left or right side. This hose leads in to the manifold going in to the motor, there is 4 bolts attach cooling hose to housing.
1. Drain coolant to below the level of coolant intake manifold. If No drain plug near lower part of radiator. Then loosen lower coolant hose, to drain coolant,
RECOMMEND TO DRAIN ALL COOLANT, ADD NEW CONCENTRATED ANTIFREEZE, WITH NEW THERMOSTAT, premixed 50-50 is okay,
2. Loosen upper coolant hose from intake manifold.
3.Remove 4 bolts holding intake cover to manifold
**there is an cover to housing gasket, sometimes is stuck be sure to remove befor installing new thermostat**
4. Remove Thermostat.
^^CAUTION, remember which direction the thermostat is sitting in opening valve^^
Thermostat is not bolted down, It will just slide out
5. Place new thermostat in,(be sure its facing the right direction) New thermostat comes manifold cover gasket
6. Attach intake cover to manifold
7. Attach coolant hose
8. attach lower coolant hose
9. Fill with antifreez, until almost full
10. Start up motor, (should never start motor with coolant system empty)
Last we want to get air pockets out of coolant system. Vehicle is on, cirrculating coolant fluid, also run fan or heater blowing
Squeese upper and lower coolant hoses to try help work coolant fluid around to adgitate any air to the surface.
Add more antifreez untill completly full.

Well, as you said, Isuzu engineers are not the brightest. We are in the process of trying to figure out how the oil got full of water! If anyone has experience in the 3.2 V6 2000 model and where the likely failed spot for the cooling system is, I'm all ears.
To your problem, the thermostat housing is located under the intake manifold, yes under it. You will have to remove the intake and fuel injection system (lots of fun) to get at the hard pipe lines under and in the front of the engine. Once there removal and replacement of the thermostat is easy.

Remove belt, fan, fan shroud and fan bracket. Remove timing covers, timing belt and water pump. Replace timing belt and the hydraulic tensioner with new ones. I suggest you get a mechanic to do this as you can easly get it out of time. Not an easy job.
