SOURCE: How do I replace the Rear Brake light bulb of 2001 Toyota Sienna?

I have a 2001 Sienna and have had to replace most of my tail light bulbs.

The bulbs that are mounted in the fender (wrap arounds) have acess panels in the van's interior that easily pop out and expose the back of the light assembly.

However, the bulbs that are found in the lift gate are a different matter. You have to remove the whole interior panel to the lift gate to expose the light assemblies. Go to your auto parts store and get a tool to help pop out the plastic retainers from the lift gates metal frame. Don't force the retainers out. Go slowly and gently so that you don't damage the interior panel. If you are really gentle you might even get to reuse the retainers.

Good luck!

Did you put in a single one double element bulb in the housing.

A double element bulb has two lighted filaments, one that lights with tail lights and one that lights up with brake lights.

If it is a double element bulb, are both lit up when installed and brake pedal not pressed. If so, check break light switch under dash board at top of brake pedal.

I have a1990 Honda crx my brake light and dash seems to stay on I check the emergency brake switch when I pull it turns brighter I also unplugged the wires from brake master fluid resovor still light stays...

the brake lights staying on is a fault in the brake pedal switch, which should be an open circuit when the pedal is up.there is 12v that is passed thru when pushed down.the switch on the reservoir opens and closes with the fluid level. why the dash light stay on leads me to believe that you have a short in the turn signal switch assembly which has light controls on the end .

This is most likely to be your brake switch near your foot pedal then. They can come lose, or just break completely, rare, but it happens.
Get down on the floor and check up behind your brake pedal, it should look fairly obvious where it is then.
Good luck with it.

It seems like you have multiple bulbs in your tail light assemblies. One or more of them is probably out -- you should be able to replace the bulb and resolve the issue. Every tail light assembly I have worked on, and their method of access, is different (and I am not familiar with the specific year and model of your car) so if you are unable to figure out how to access the lights, or how to figure out which light bulb is out you can ask at an auto parts store. If they are unable to help you, try a Haynes manual for your make and model -- it will have specific directions on how to change the bulbs out.

Hi there,

Well you can please follow the below link -
1. Open the rear hatch of the Murano.
2. Remove the screws holding the rear trim covers in place.
3. Pull off the rear trim covers to expose the rear taillight housing assembly.
4. Remove the power connector running to the brake light ballast.
5. Turn the brake light counterclockwise with your hand, and remove the light from the housing assembly.
6. Install the new brake light. Installation is in reverse of removal. Post comments for more help or information......

1993 blazer parking brake light won't shut off

Are you sure the brake light (on the dash) is on because of the parking brake ?
Try this. Watch the brake light and at the same time set your parking brake. If the light seems to get slightly brighter then it isn't on due to the parking brake it is on for another reason.
If it does not get brighter then you need to look at the parking brake switch down by the parking brake as it may be grounded out causing the light to be on.
Be sure to check the brake fluid level. If it is low on brake fluid it will turn the light on also.

My brake lights won't glow brighter under braking?

sounds like the brake light switch on brake pedal has gone bad one way to check is find the switch it will have two wires pluged into the switch they can be dificult to get to they are located some where down low to the floor board on back of pedal find it and unplug the conector with a peice of wire or paper clip make a jumper between the two wires dont worry 12volts will not shock you but once jumper wire has been installed between the wires dont let it touch any metal parts or it will short out and blow fuse hope this helps

2004 Honda Odyssey EX brake light replacement. How do you remove

open the rear hatch. Next to the brake light assembly, between it and the hatch there are two flap doors in the brake light trim. Take a small flat blade screwdriver and open these doors. The hinge side of the flap is nearest the hatch opening. When opened, the flaps will reveal two screws. Remove these. Then wrap a flat blade screwdriver with some tape (protects the paint) and put the blade at the front outside corner of the brake light assembly. Pry gently rearward and a plastic spear point clip will release. With the assembly off, you can see how to twist out the bulb sockets and replace the bulbs. to replace, put the spear point clip in first, replace the screws, and close the flaps in the trim.

I have a hyundai elantra 2001.. the brake light and the battery light both turn on.. what could be the problem...

Your alternator is probably not charging at full capacity. The brake light is next in sequence with the battery light, and will glow dimly. (Set your parking brake, and it will glow brighter.) I replaced the alternator, and cleared up the problem.
