Where is the cooling fan control module located on a 2002 sonata v6?

The wiring or one of these listed above has a short . Disconnect the cooling fan control module and see if the problem goes away , if it does you need a new cooling fan control module . Do you know where it is ?

The cooling fan is controlled by the PCM - powertrain control module through a relay ! There is no cooling fan sensor , there is a coolant temperature sensor ! This coolant temperature sensor is an input to the engine computer , if there were a problem wit the sensor the check engine light would be on .
Cooling Fan Control
The engine cooling fan system consists of one cooling fan and one relay. The relay is powered by the battery positive voltage circuit and controlled by a switched ground from the powertrain control module (PCM).
During operation, the PCM supplies the ground path for the cooling fan relay through the cooling fan relay control circuit. This energizes the cooling fan relay coil, closes the relay contacts, and supplies battery positive voltage from the cooling fan fuse through the cooling fan motor supply voltage circuit to the cooling fan. The cooling fan motor is grounded through its own ground circuit.
The PCM commands the fan on under the following conditions:

Engine coolant temperature exceeds approximately 106?°C (223?°F).

A/C refrigerant pressure exceeds 1310 kPa (190 psi).

A/C is requested and vehicle speed is below 100 km/h (62 mph) with A/C pressure above 1413 kPa (205 psi).

Vehicle speed is less than 8 km/h (5 mph) for more than 750 seconds. The fan will turn off when vehicle speed is greater than 8 km/h (5 mph) for more than 20 seconds.

There is a cooling fan module beneath the passenger side head lamp I believe. It may be hidden beneath some plastic as my Jeep's was, making it rather difficult to get to. The fuse is a 60a located near the battery.

Test both the cooling fan relay and the fuse (located under the hood and inside the control module box).

For the inop blower fan, test the switch if the fuse checks out.

Jose, the problem you describe could be caused by multiple problems.... and to go into each one of them here would be an excessive undertaking. #1, check the coolant level in the radiator itself, just because the coolant recovery resevior is full, doesn't necessarily mean the radiator is full.
#2. Thermostat could be sticking closed
#3. The engine coolant temperature sensor could be malfunctioning.
#4. The cooling fan might/could be manfunctioning
#5. The cooling fan relay could be defective
#6. The cooling fan relay is controlled by the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) which might be the cause of the overheat problem.
#7. The radiator could be clogged/restricted.
#8. Head gasket leaking combustion chamber hot gasses directly into the water (cooling system) jackets.
... and the list goes on and on.
Best advice is to take the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai Service Center to have it properly diagnosed. This way you'll know EXACTLY what the problem is and what is will cost in parts & labor to fix it.

It's behind the climate control panel (right behind ashtray. You remove 2, 10mm nuts from the driver side accelerator area. The "set" switch would be behind if it's there at all. The metal bracket comes off with it.

That fault indicates a problem in the electronic cooling fan circuit. More specificly the output driver in the onboard computer has detected a problem with the control circuit of the electronic fans. First inspect for correct operation of both radiator mounted fans.

There is a special (proprietary) programming electronics 'black box' for the keyless entry system on all Hyundai vehicles for programming the remotes. This programming is stored in either the BCM (body control module) or the ETACS module (Electronic Time and Control System).

The sensor is located at the radiator. follow the wire from the fan to the plug on the sensor. I hope this helps.
