Have 98 ford contour ran fine till one day drove it to a friends house now wont start have gas spark no codes being thrown out on tester just cranks and cranks no start

How long since a tune-up? Can you check for applicable trouble codes?
Generally if it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure and fuel injector pulse. Make sure the battery has a full charge. Check your security system, where applicable. Only crank the starter for a few seconds at a time, let it cool off, a little.

do you have spark? poss causes are crank sensor on front crank pulley, or a shorted egr sensor(dpfe) or a bad tpsensor . have someone scan for trouble codes

Do you hear the pump come on briefly with key in run, not start? You should check fuel pressure-some parts stores rent a fuel pressure tester for small fee. Or try this: spray some starting fluid into the air intake when trying to start. If it starts and runs a few seconds, you know you have a fueling problem- pump or injectors or something with the fuel.
Always check for trouble codes with a no start. If checking for spark and have no spark to the plugs, then it could be the crank position sensor. That sensor is crucial for the computer to figure spark timing. But if no spark, it could be other things as well, like the cam position sensor, ignition control module, or a problem in the circuits for all these. The crank sensor is just an educated guess for no spark-not a certainty.
Since it won't run, you can't go to have the computer scanned for free at a parts store-do you have any friends or relatives with an OBD-2 hand held scanner? Just to check for any trouble codes, but do check for fuel and spark.

How soon after the plugs blew out did the trouble begin ?

have diagnostic codes checked to see if you have a cam or crank sensor fault. make sure fuel pressure is at the required pressure, just testing to see if you have fuel at the valve is not enough. replace all spark plug wires. if you replaced two then all are just as old and even when they "look good" does not qualify as "they are good". Replace coil pack. start up drive away happy

try pushinjg the valve in the fuel line where the injectors are their is a valve which looks like a car tyre valve ,turn ignition on and crank whilst pushing this valve in till petrol comes out

check crank position sensor, run scanner for trouble codes , some auto parts will do this for free

is the security light flashing? its usually a problem with the security system. try locking and unlocking the doors with the electric locks and trying again. also if you have another key you might try that the ford house can check your keys are working properly

All fords were notorious for starting at one bit but on the Cortina
that I had one winter I had to remove Two spark plugs from 1 and 3 cylinder , take them in the house warm them up on the gas ring then on return to the car pour in a half spoonful of petrol to the "pots" then refit the hot plugs then after 3 swings she would go. The only other solution was to put the car in a nice warm
garage.!!
