If the switch is broken there would be little point in just replacing the lever
new switches will come with a new lever

If Bill was trying to be helpful, he wasn't. The reason I asked is there is a rectangular cut out directly below the switch that looks like it could lock the switch in place I just didn't want to pry it out and possibly break it for no reason.

you mentioned nothing about a rectangular piece missing or any thing else like in your comment
so you get the answer you got
I am not a mind reader and cannot see what you are looking at so the answer is helpful in relation to your question

How to repair turn signal lever

In order to repair the lever you must replace the turn signal switch, this requires the **** shell covers on the steering column to be removed, they are held on by 4 screws recessed in holes, then the switch is bolted to the steering column tube by two machine screws, do not break the wire connectors to the switch, remove them carefully. Always disconnect the battery negative cable before working on the steering column

Turn signal does not return

Try spraying some WD40 on the base of the signal lever (into the steering column), if that does not work than you need to replace the actual mechanism behind the steering wheel.

Most likely a bad multifunction switch (turn signal switch), try wiggling the turn signal lever while it is turned to the left and see ifit ever works. This is extremely common problem on fords, but not the only one, could also be a broken wire ,bad ground or a bad light socket.

Pull the steering wheel and clean the turn signal switch and look for broken parts. If that doesn't fix it, then replace the turn signal wand on the steering column.
