Best plan is to buy a new key. Dealer can supply this if you show VIN and proof of ownership. Pricey, but still the best option, IMHO.

SOURCE: 2002 Toyota Sequoia power brake booster % master cylinder are bad

Mr. Clark:
It would be extraordinary for a technician to recommend a booster and a master cylinder with no previous mention from you of a possible problem in this area. In other words, the technician had no business looking at the m/cyl or the booster, unless you told him that your braking was deficient.
Here is what REALLY happened: Somewhere, I'd bet, your brake light came on, and somebody "topped off" the master cylinder, to shut the light off. Now, please understand that the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir DROPS PROPORTIONALLY to the wear of the brake pads. When the tech replaced the front brake pads, he obviously had to squeeze the caliper pistons into the housings to allow the insertion of the new pads. This action forced the brake fluid from the now-compressed caliper pistons BACK into the master cylinder, and it sprayed out from under the cap, coating the cylinder and the booster. Tell that repair service that you do NOT need a booster and a master cylinder, THEY caused the problem with the fluid being everywhere. I am confident that I just saved you a significent amount of money that you do NOT need to spend. Have a great day.

have you got a an answer? you just need to keep a hand on the key to turn and the other hand on the steering wheel move it both ways (left and right) gently!
if problem stays, means you need to change the switch assemb. may be a kid inserted some thing in it!! or theft trial!

SOURCE: head lights dont come on. 2001 toyota Sequoia

this problem could be a blown fuse or the relay (these are in two boxes near the battery), or possibly the switch to turn the lights on (on steering column), and small pssobility of a wiring (such as grounding).

2001 Toyota Sequoia I lost thing all keys and I'm trying to hotwire I got it turning over but it won't start

If you had a chip in key you have an immobilizer. You're probably locked out for security reasons. Flatbed it to a dealer.

My sequoia 2005 master key was stolen, how can I start my car again I just have a key to open doors?

You have to talk to your local dealership. The vehicle may need to be towed in and the dealership will make you a new key. Call first. You may just be able to take in your title and have a key made.

I lost the keys to my 2001 Toyota Sequoia - I had a new key made but now the engine will cut out when I stop. How can this be resolved?

This had nothing to do with the key. Check your air filter, if it is dirty replace it, and replace the fuel filter to start. let me know I can help.

My 2006 toyota sequoia has no dash lights for the most part and the cigarette lighter does not work. The clock works but no radio lights either. The radio works.

My 2001 Toyota Sequoia just lost all dash lights last night too. I've tried checking the fuses in the cabin, and none of them look blown. Did you ever get an answer to this problem?
