SOURCE: I have a burnt oil smell in the cabin on

The oil is most likely leaking from the valve cover on the side the exhaust manifold is on. The oil leaks out periodically and burns off or vaporizes immediately that's why there is no trace of a leak because the oil never has a chance to accumulate it vaporized tooo quickly.

SOURCE: 2001 jeep smells like burnt wire in the cabin

That smell may be related to an oil leak burning off on an exhaust manifold or pipe. Since you did not report any electrical malfunctions, I'd check that first. When working the engine harder it gets hotter and you will therefore smell the burning more than when just normally driving. I can't see your vehicle so don't give me a bad rating if I'm wrong, but I'd look there first!

SOURCE: smelling gas fumes in passenger cabin

There are rubber gas line hoses under the hood & after a number of years they tend to leak ever so slightly. They are under the hood to the passenger side. You may need to replace these fuel lines. There should be a cabin filter but you must take the wiper motor screen off to get at it & it is on the passenger side. Good luck!

Testimonial: "Sounds like that's it. Will check it out. Thanks. Any idea if these are preformed factory parts or just generic fuel line"

99 silverado when I take off motor revs up but truck don't wanna go eventually it will get going but will do the same when it shifts don't know if its the trans or rear end

if it was the rearend it would bang or clunk when the teeth meet. check fluid in trans, i assume its auto? if so check for burn smell on dipstick. if brown that means your clutches burnt. if still red but bad smell try changing filter and fluid. a complete flush is better but more expensive at a shop. if brown your too late and prob need a rebuild! ask a trans expert

I would start with which fuses you blew in the fuse box. That will give you an indication on which areas to look hard at. It sounds like you had an electrical fire and that now you have multiple fuse blown with other damage. DON'T REPLACE THE FUSES until you have found the problem that caused them to blow.

99 cavalier Smoke coming out from under dashboard!

now this may be a long shot... but i had a similar problem on my cutlass. but it wasnt wiring...... it was from the tube running from the head of my engine...... the smell and smoke were coming from hot oil coming out of the crank case vent tube and then being sucked into the air inlet for the heater/ ac.

since a electrical wire's protective cover is petroleum based as is oil.... they smell very similar

Saab 95 1998 - wont start

The most common problem is the Direct ignition cassette, followed by the crankshaft position sensor. I am assuming that it cranks, but won't start.
