Never heard of this procedure. Both of those are plug and play. They are controlled by the PCM. There is a crank sensor relearn, but it takes a scanner to do this. also, if you didn't clear the codes, the PCM will still think it has problems.

Testimonial: "so a obd scanner can do this"

  • Randy Ohler Jun 12, 2016

A code reader will erase engine codes. To do a relearn takes a scanner. They are different hand held computers. I bought a cheap scanner $2000. I like it better and it does more things than the $20,000 scanner at the place I work. Mine is a bit slow though.

SOURCE: High Idle

I have a 2001 Nissan Altima and mine did the same thing. We replaced the intake gasket. It costs around $5.50, but it requires several different kinds of tools. We spent over $100 in special sockets, etc. But once you replace that gasket, it will idle better.

What is the idle relearn procedure for 2004 cadillac cts 3.6

The idle should relearn by itself within a minute or so if there are no other problems. Was the battery changed/disconnected? Why do you think you need an idle relearn?

How do I adjust the throttle body

The throttle bodies on most newer cars are not adjustable for its idle speed. If the Check Engine Light is on, go to the nearest auto parts store and get them to pull the error codes from your car's computer. Post the codes back here and we can give you a better answer to your question

This is going to sound kinda stupid.
But have you tried dry gas?
A lot of times when you get moisture in the gas it does what yours is doing.
I know you replaced the pump but did you take out the old gas?

It could take a day or two for the computer to re-learn memory after the battery is replaced.
You could also have a faulty idle air control valve, or a dirty throttle body.

2003 tahoe how to do a idle speed relearn 5.3

All you do is disconnect the battery NEGATIVE cable for 5 minutes and then reconnect, over the next few miles your system will relearn idle. This will not correct any idle problems such as stalling or erratic idle, this would be caused by other problems many of which WILL NOT SET FAULT CODES.

I would tell you to stop guessing and throwing parts on that you dont need. First have it scanned and see if there are any trouble codes. you need to replace the ALL the spark plugs, Use only Motorcraft or Autolite platinum spark plugs gapped properly. . Be careful as coils are a common weak item , and are about $95 each. the Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoids are common to go bad also (controls idle speed)

1991 Honda del Sol Overheating and funny idle

The idle problem kinda sounds like the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve on the intake manifold. Another idea is maybe coolant temp. sensor. And if it's leakings coolant still after replacing all those parts then i would say maybe the water pump is leaking since i believe on those motors its by the timing belt which is behind the plastic cover on the motor so maybe that's why you're not seeing fluid so much because it's in there. Hope some of this helpes, good luck.
