I lost my keyless entry. There is a pad on the inside of my driver side door that has 1 2 set on it. Is there a code i can put in to set the alarm, or do i need to buy another keyless entry remote?
NO.
why not drive to any major lock smith shop in town.
they can make you a key for 1/2 or less than jeep
call them ask.
best is to buy a new RKE fob, (real jeep) on sale.
buy it ,get it and then get the shop to program it for you.
that 1 and 2 is driver 1 and too.
here is what your operators guide states
quote
(Driver
1 or 2) of the memory switch on the driver's front
door trim panel is depressed, or when the doors are
unlocked using the corresponding (Driver 1 or 2)
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
end.
the FSM chapter 8P covers all this,, need that?
also when you lock a door using RKE
the Alarm is active.
if you use a key , it shuts off (metal key) as per operator guide,
read page,.how to disable the alarm, its clear)
there is no 1997 DIY key programming, besides some minor, changes, like chirps, and one button all doors open, etc.
you can not program, a new key .
use google or duckduckgo
to find keys

read the words there.
Will not work go online ebay/amazon other electronics or even a bone yard and buy a replacement anywhere from $5 to 20 and unless you have auto start you can program it from online sources also when you hit door lock or use key to lock it will set alarm amd when you open door with key gives you a few seconds to enter and insert key and turn on before alarm goes off
No that will not work

Thanks for letting me know. So am I going to have to replace my keyless entry device?
You need to see the dealer to diagnose this, you have no way to know what the problem is, the pad or the control module it sends the key code to. Also the code may be on the module on a paper tag.. I don't know where the module is in this car, suggest you try youtube on the problem or google the problem as "Keyless Entry Inop" and visit some of the Jeep owners forums you will find, join and ask for help.
