It sounds as if you may have introduced water to the oil. I suggest getting your oil and oil filter if the car still has the noise you may need to take it into a shop for diagnoses

My starter is making a winding noise

If your starter is making a winding noise, it may be due to a few different issues. It could be an issue with the starter motor, such as worn out brushes or a shorted winding. It could also be an issue with the starter solenoid, such as a bad solenoid or a corroded electrical connection. If you are able to tap on the rear of the starter and make it start one more time, then it is likely an issue with the starter motor. If all is good and you need a boost, you may need to jumpstart your car.

Car ran fine but now won't start and battery is working but won't jumpstart.

sounds like the starter motor, make sure the battery did not leak acid and corrode the cable, remove battery cables and inspect first. If cables and battery are okay then starter is most likely cause

floods are a bad deal for houses and yards but there hell on cars most offten the car that is flooded is totaled out cause the cost to fix it is more then what the car is worth. i would have to say check the fuses for your seats and then check the motor on the seat to see if its still soaked sometimes they dry out and work fine and sometimes they dont ever work again i would start with the fuses then dig a lil deeper and see if there is power going to the seat if there is, is the power going to the motor if not fix what is stoping the power.

Car was submerge in flood waters up to the floor water was inside car. now the car engine won't start.

I don't know for sure if this is it, but I had a guy that had a flooded Saturn that wouldn't start. Tried a new starter, no good. Took out the plugs and the cylinders were full of water, turned over the motor and water shot out the cylinders like a fountain!!!! Something may have shorted out and you may have a blown fuse or a main fuse.

Is the car immobilized? if so you may have to lock and unlock the car with the key and not the remote.

Is it turning over or just nothing, also starter motor may be jammed. put the car in gear with the hand brake off and push the car forward until you feel the engine turn over. You dont need the keys in the car!

This should free the starter off, sometimes they jam very tight and will not move at all, on these jags. they get rusty quickly if sat about. I had a XJ many years ago great motors.

Good luck.

Water in engine.

Boy you must have tall ankles where you come from ?

Water should not have flooded into the engine unless you hit the water at speed and it was sucked into an air inlet.

It is more than likely that you have flooded the starter motor and the solenoid is chattering.

It should dry out itself or try putting it in the garage with a fan heater blowing underneath the car for a few hours.

Dont put the heater too close to the bodywork , as long as there is a warm airflow the water should dry out
