Two things may cause this stuttering. 1) worn or severed engine mounts and or pours or leaking high tension leads spark plug wires

While merging onto the highway when my car hit 3 and 4th gear the engine seemed to "stutter/misfire" during harder acceleration. Check engine light also flashed briefly during hard acceleration. Dur

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.

My car drives fine but stutters once and a while , but it burns more gas than usual and my engine light is blinking thats why I'm nervous.

a flashing check engine light indicates a misfire that is currently happening. take it to auto zone have them run a diagnostic(its free) on it and see which cylinder is causing the problem.

Honda Civic EX Coupe (2 door) 1.6 Liter - 156,000 miles My Honda Civic is having a check engine problem. History: Had accident 3 weeks ago, a minor accident, body damage did not exceed damaging the...

Wow! The engine is running like **** with misfire codes? I think that's what you were trying to say. First, stop all the "miricle cures in a can"...fuel injector cleaners, K&N filters and the such. They will only do more harm than good. Next, replace your distributor. Honda igniters are notorious for causing the symptoms (and codes) you are describing and they are only serviced in a complete distributor assembly.

99 Toyota Corolla multiple misfire problem

This is what you need to do, change the plug wires, because if there is a bad wire you would definitely experiences sputter or a stutter, so do the plug wires and at the same time do the spark plugs, this should take care of your problem. if not let me know and i will give you the next step

Trac off and check engine light for lexus es 300 check engine & trac control off lights & engine stutters while revving in park. Engine seems fine in drive... Reset lights without them returning...

A week ago, on my Lexus ES 300 (2001), "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights came on. This coincided with me filling the gas tank to the brim to round the dollar to be paid. I cleaned the gas tank cap and the tank opening. However, both lights persisted. On the same day, when I turned on the car again, there was a hesitance, a stuttering to come on. Both "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights were still on.

The next day, the car wouldn't come on at all. It sounded as the battery was dead. I couldn't even jump start the car. So, I got a new battery from Costco ($59) and put it in. It took 15-20 seconds of cranking to get the car started. Once it was started, the engine sounded fine and the RPM normal. The "Check Engine" light was off. However, the "Trac Off" was still on. I cleaned the gas tank cap one more time.

The next morning, when I turned the car on, there was no problems. It came on instantly as it used to be, didn't have any warning lights, and drove smoothly.

Engine stuttering

have you replaced your O2 censor yet? or changed your air filter lately. I know our avenger is pretty picky we had a dirty air filter once and it seemed like the O2 censor went out because it kept trying to shut off when the idle was lower. a new air filter did a bit for it then we got a censor reader that you plug into the brain box of the car or the cigarette lighter and it told us the O2 was out and our car was doing the low idle thing. after we fixed it no problems.

Mazda MPV 2004 - Stutters, check engine light came on

chances are fairly good it's the coils - I've posted about this on Edmunds. the OEM design is truely idiotic & has a vent that allows moisture down into the plug well - that shorts the spark & causes misfires. On our 2004 MPV I got away w/cleaning & drying them extremely carefully then sealing the vent w/silicone as a temp measure, then ordered perfect replacement after-market coils off ebay that sealed the wells & stopped the problem -and- were a tiny fraction of the OEM price.  good luck, BK
