Audi A8L MMI Car Button Reboots

I have the exact same issue. I press the Car button and the system reboots. All other buttons work fine. At the same time I found another problem: when I use the keyless entry Lock button, the car locks, but there's a high pitched "beep beep beep" for about 30 seconds. Wonder if these things are related?

Had a similar problem on my 2006 A8L
It appears that "Car" botton got stuck in pressed position due to some sand getting between buttons, another time it was "Nav" one.
After minor cleaning, and popping button back to normal position, works fine.

tip

Enable Audi MMI 3G bluetooth hands-free phone

Activate Audi MMI 3G bluetooth connection and handsfree profile in your car. All Audis with Multi Media Interface 3rd generation are equipped with bluetooth, some just need activation which you can do for free, without adding any hardware.

  • You car need to have MMI 3G system. Check your Multi Media Interface version.
  • Hidden menu must be enabled.

Procedure:
  1. Turn key into II position and wait for the MMI 3G system to start. You can also use keyless buttons.
  2. Press and hold buttons SETUP and CAR.
  3. After couple of seconds hidden green menu will appear. You can now release the buttons.
  4. Navigate to diagnose > settings > Tel settings misc.
  5. Check current value in this line and switch to value with "BT/HFP" instead of "no BT/no HFP".
  6. Press RETURN and CAR buttons at the same time to exit hidden green menu.
  7. Restart MMI 3G with key combination
  8. Connect your diagnostic interface with module 5F - Control Head.
  9. Choose procedure 10 - Adaptation.
  10. Choose Channel 17 and read stored value (should be 0).
  11. Enter new value: 1
  12. Save new adaptation value.
  13. Exit.

Hi. I have a problem with my 2006 A8L. Satnav was working fine but now it says NAVIGATION IS NOT INSTOLED and DVD unit has no power. Everything else on the MMI works. Thanks

it sounds like you had a disruption in power and it may need to be reintroduced to the car with a diagnostic computer.

2006 Audi A8L MMI went blank, no reset, no retracting... Could it be a fuse?

Sorry to state the obvious, bit just in case, have you checked to be sure the screen is turned on? Press and hold the volume knob for a few seconds. There is also a display off button on the dash to rt. of the display unit.

If all are on, try resetting the unit:

Hi, my Audi A6 2006 won't lock the driver side door, when I press the lock button on my remote, even if I press the lock button once or twice!

Look at your MMI in there go to settings and check that your locking is to all doors in the MMI you can set what you like and what door to lock your Drivers door lock may be switched off just change it to on and it will work.

My 2006 A8L 4.2 instrument cluster and a few of the front console lights such as parking sensor button, rear shade and headlight switch on the left have been flickering for months. Flickering is rapid...

I have seen this before and found the Dash insert is defective, Go to address 17 and carry out a final control segment test for the dash when the fault occurs also make sure there are no battery management fault codes.

Restriction of functions
The following are deactivated in the event of
active load intervention by the battery and
energy management system:
- Interior lighting
- Sunroof
- Light/humidity sensor
- Interior mirror

Check you ambient in car lighting settings in the mmi user functions for current settings

Park brake uses 58d terminal and the rest use 58s terminal from memory

Hi my MMI system on 2004 A6 asgone dead, no power

No solution, same problem, but had many strange moments: 4 months ago during 100 kms or so it stopped, then suddenly came back, and worked ever since. A few days ago, it started happening again: NAV stuck, then radio dead, and gradually the rest disappeared. I did a Reset, and since that moment I see the intro-screen and then it goes black. Hitting the TEL button is somehow also a Reset...

Do the previous 2 posters have anything to report on this matter? It would be VERY welcome!

Thanks,
Jeff
