Also called "snap check"(rapidly depressing and releasing throttle to check exhaust for smoke) how can I fix/diagnose this prob?car has 94,000 original miles
The check describes indicates excessive big end bearing clearance with worn oil control ring and cylinder wear
normally it would required extensive engine rebuild
however there is a heavy grade viscosity oil on the market for worn engines that may help pass the test
Testimonial: "car has 90,000 miles. . .worn bearings?"
the mileage was not mentioned and at approximately 15,000 miles a year average at 15 years old , the assumption is 225,000 miles which is bearings and worn rings
were the fault codes read to check for any sensors that are not working properly ie EGR valve , cat converter
what grade of oil is in use for the ambient temperature
that is 10w30 for cold weather and not 20w50 which would overload the oil ring from being too thick
remember that the check does indicate bearings and rings as described and is one quick way to check the engine condition in a used car
