1997 Acura 1.6EL rattle underneath front end

its likely the fan. if it sounds like metal clicking or grinding, its the fan bearings.

it could also simply be the plastic fan case rattling/rubbing against another hood accessory.

Chances are you have a bad sway bar end link, and yes they do tend to rattle

check the stabilizer links,usually they go bad and make that noise,they are connected to a stabilizer bar

Have a tire shop inspect the front end for loose and worn parts, they will in most cases do this for free.

thats dangerous dont drive it sounds like the front end is comeing apart or call a priest jokeing is the tire flat make sure all lug nuts are tight

Mine did similer there is a small what looks like a shock absorber it tensions the drive belts its a 12 uk pound part if you can find it wiggle it about its normally the rubbers that gone as they perish with age sounds worse when its ideling goes away when you rev it its at the front ofvthe engine near the power steering pump its only about 6 inches long but it makes a right racket when it goes hope this helps ivan

lots of parts, alternator, water pump, a/c compressor lower area . many of them are on the serpentine belt. the pulleys and tensioner can make rattles. you need to confirm which part has the rattle or vibration, use a stick or screw driver. touch one end on the part and the other near your temple...any noise/vibration coming through?

fiind which one it is. lower noise on the crank can also sound like its coming from up front and that's a deep rattle.

most likly a heat shield check and see if any are loose

Get your tyres balanced, makes a HUGE difference and the tyres last longer too.

there will be a rattle the front of the engine. the end with all your pulleys and belts on. And it will be hard to work out if it's in the engine or the pulleys.

It is a common that a TICKING coming from the front of the engine is the timing chain guide.
