Can I swap the splines from a Chevy silverado 1999 transfer case from a 2001 2500hd transfer case.

Well the one doesn't have a tag. Both front and rear drive shafts go in. Just the connection between the transmission and transfer case doesn't. Are they difficult to take apart and put back together?

If they are the same cases, yes. Match the number on the tags. Numbers have to match. Like NP 245

SOURCE: Transfer case leak

You mean between the case halves? It is just silicon, no gasket. These are good for the pump wearing a hole in the rear housing and leaking oil. The cure for it is a new rear housing and a piece called a case saver that keeps the pump from doing it again. Taking the transfer case apart to fix it is easy, I can tell you how to do it.

SOURCE: 01 Chevy Silverado 4 X 4 not working. 4WD light

Having the same exact problem but with my 1999 escalade. Thought it was the actuator bought a new one installed it transfer case would engage but front end wouldnt lock. Took it out of housing left it plugged in got a friend to go through all the 4wd for me and the plunger never moved out the actuator. Checked my wiring harness which is a four prong ann it had one hot prong like it is suppose to. Traced wires even replaced dash switch same problem. Taking it to local dealership tom to have it checked for codes. I was told it could be the transfercase actuator even though its workin that actuator is what sends power to the front to engage the actuator to lock the differential.

I have a 1999 chevy silverado Z71 1500 5.3. It makes loud grinding and poping noises when I put it in gear how do I know if its the transmission or the transfer case?

the transfer case only engages when in 4wd. check the universal joint, it connects from the drive shaft to the rear differential. it may need grease or to be replaced.

Where is transfer case located and where is the actuater located on 1999 chevy 2500

The transfer case is behind the transmission your drive shafts attach to it look for some wires coming out of it that should be the actuator. Hope this helps.

1999 chevy silverado service 4 wheel drive light

I had a similar problem with the Service 4 Wheel Drive light which came on intermittently then became more consistent in the message center display. It would go into 4 wheel drive if the message center did not display the Service 4 Wheel Drive message in the message center, but not when the message was displayed. I found the transfer case switch module in the dash was defective, and it has been working with no other problems for three years.

Is it worth it to replace a transfer case on a 1999 Chevy Suburban? And if I do where is a good place in the Port Huron, (Northern Detroit) Michigan to get parts?

I cant make the call. Think of it this way, do you like the truck, and what shape is it in. I see your in michigan, salt can be a killer on the truck. But if its in good shape and you like it go for it. Shops or wrecking yards in your area I just don't know.

Transfer case chevy truck

a np241 from a th400/4l80e would have the 32 spline that is need for a manual trans, one from a 700r4/4l60e is 27 spline input, in 94 the switch was changed and the cam to activate the switch was changed so if you get a 94 np241 you then will need to wire in a 94 switch into the older harness

Chevy Transfer Case

The most common thing to go wrong with chevy transfercase is the rear tailshaft has a snap ring that breakes. Just remove the bolts holding it on and inspect the shaft and see if the snap ring is broken. Then just replace it with a new on from the dealer.
