is the trans oil in good condition and correct level ? i'd start with checking that , then if not any better get the OBD codes read as may be a sensor/switch etc
This has so many variables...is the serpentine belt the original? It can be hardened with age, quiets when warmed up...could be tensioner pulley, this noise could come and go however...also is your weather very cold? If equipped with an automatic transmission, the age can exhibit unique cold sounds...if tranny never serviced, add a bottle of Lucas Oil Transmission Stabilizer to tranny fluid...read instructions, you do not have to drain anything...This is highly recommended for cleaning tranny. Hope this helps.
could be cold oil in the power steering making the pump whine or in the transmission
may be a transmission oil change or pump oil change could point to the problem
You should have a transmission dipstick under the hood. You start your car and let it warm up. Once it is warm, make sure your car is on level ground. Pull the dip stick out, wipe it off, and put it back in. Make sure it goes all the way down. Pull it back out. Once you do, look closely at the dipstick. It should have markings of some kind. Some have one groove or sometimes two. Some say hot and warm. It should be to the top mark. If not, add as needed. Don't add a lot at one time. Just a little at a time. Please don't forget to vote if this helps. Appreciate it.
Yep .Warm the motor up,park the car and h/brake on.Go through all the gears and finish in neutral. Now check the trans level. Can do whilst car is running if it does not spit out.It shouldn't.Hope this helps
It sounds to me like your transmission is not well. It's working when the fluid is cold but not as it warms up. Pull the dipstick and check your transmission fluid for color and smell. It should be pinkish and smell like oil. My guess is that it will be closer to brown than pink and have a burnt oil smell to it. It the transmission is full, check the level with the trans warm, engine running, in neutral.I'd be shopping for another transmission. If the fluid is below the add mark, you an usually buy yourself some time on the replacement by changing the trans fluid and filter. At the same time add a transmission treatment with the new oil,I've had good luck with Lucas. Hope this helps.
