If it isn't making noise, check the electrical connection. If its getting power it could be that the motor needs to be replaced.

Check power at switch and electric motor.

First of all, air bag sensors are not under the seats, so don't worry. Next, the switch working at certain times means that perhaps you do not have to replace it. The cold switch contacts are slightly corroded from moisture condensing on them. When the car warms up, the contacts are "clean" and make good electric contact. Choose: live with a little inconvenience or start messing with the switch to clean off the electrical contacts inside with electrical contact cleaner which requires removing the switch and opening up its insides.

Sounds like a bad motor.

You need to check for power at the motor when you try to activate the switch. If there's power then you have a drive cable issue. If this is a manual seat then the problem is the actuator assembly itself,the cable,mechanism,etc. Remove the seat & take a good look at it. You'll see a problem,write back.

Check electrical power to seat switch with 12V test light, and also out of swithch upon pushing buttons, If good continue electrical to seat motor
