I have a '95 Mercedes C220 and today the remote alarm / auto entry stopped working. I went into the grocery store, came out and clicked the fob to turn off the alarm and unlock the door and... nothing. I replaced the battery in the fob and the little red light lights up which it did before too, but the car doesn't respond. If I open the door manually the alarm goes off, so I can't even access the car's manual which I keep in the back seat. How can I resolve this? Do I need to replace the fob entirely? Does the car need to go into the dealer to have something reset? The alarm went off twice already, much to the amusement of my neighbors who were trying to help. Your wisdom much appreciated!
The dealer usually has a contractor that deals with remote entry systems on scheduled days. Most places like carmax do too for about $75-100. Try carmax first. I'll bet you'll save money.

Open vehicle and insert key into ignition and start vehicle that will reset and shut off alarm as to fob will probably need a relearn and that will be thru dealer
