SOURCE: vibration when stoping in brake pedel

hi. there are two things that can cause this. One is bad rotors that cause uneven brake ware. this can be corrected by requesting the techs to turn the rotors during the brake replacement session. secondly, if you have had this done previously, they may be worn to a point that the turning process has reach a point that it is ineffective and you will need to replace the entire front rotors.

SOURCE: Idle goes up and down, check engine light on, brakes hard to push

Check engine for vacuum leaks at all hoses, hose connections, intake gasket etc. I have also seen retarded engine timing produce low vacuum. If no leaks, check anything in control system that controls timing...however, I believe you will find a leak before you need to go there. Also check Idle control valve and egr valve for malfunction or blockages.

SOURCE: I have to push my brakes all the way down to stop

Your brakes are worn, low fluid, faulty master or leaking slave. In any case it's unsafe to drive. Your brakes could fail at any time without warning!

My brake light switch is broken

Its on the brake pedel you need to remove a clip from the end of the pin that slides through the pedel and the brake switch then the pin then the connecter . Install in reverse order .
However before removeing anything you should look to see if there is an adjustment for the switch . You see the brake light olny comes on if you push on the pedel most have adjustments on them because its an on demand thing so the light could be on if your not pushing the pedel or it could not come if you are pushing the pedel or it could not come on at all pushing or not pushing to pedel .You need to figure witch condution you actully have .

Brake trouble shooting

First off make sure you have brake fluid in your reservoir. Secondly if brake fluid is at the full line. I would try bleeding the brakes. This takes two people. On each cylinder there is a bleeder valve. Start with the drivers front with the engine off have somebody pump the brakes 3 or 4 times then hold it to the floor. open the bleeder valve and the break will go to the floor shut the brake bleeder valve. And repeat 2 more times. " MAKE SURE YOU CAN CHECK YOUR BRAKE FLUID AT EACHthe STEP AND REFILL RESERVOIR AS NEEDED".Then move to the next 3 until complete. If this does not fix your problem most likely you have a bad master cylinder. Good luck.

Where is the 1989 deville brake light switch

The switch is located near the brake pedel under the dash. the pedel stem will push on the switch when you step on the brake. Just follow the pedal from the bottom to the top under the dash and you will find it. It should look like this. dcramer531_107.jpg

Brake lights dont work when you push the pedal

Check your brake switch its mounted at the top of the brake pedel up under the dashboard . Unplug the connector ot it test to see if you are getting 12 volts to the switch the wire should be hot all of the time.Test the switch for contentnuity with an OHMS meter it should be open with the pedel up and closed with the pedel depressed if not the switch is bad . There may also be an adjustment on the switch to move the plunger closer to the stop you may be able to correct the problem this way .

How to bleed the brakes on a 91 festiva

Start at the fertisest wheel away fromthe master cylinder rearpassanger you need a clear plastic hose that fits on the bleeder each cllinder or caliper has one you need a clear plastic bottle put some brake fluid in it then you need a wrench that fits real good use the box end you need to lossen the bleeders they can be tight some times you need to hit them with a torch for a few seconds not to long you don;t want to melt them or start a fire give it a quick snap it should lossen Next you put the hose over the end of the bleeder fitting with the wrench still on the bleeder aswellYou need some to sit in the car and push down on the pedel when you tell them to When they push down you have the bleeder open fluid will come out into the tube and go into the bottleYou then close the bleeder when the pedel is in the down pisition this is important becases if the pedel goes up with the bleeder open it will **** fluid back in and you;ll get now ware Sotell the person in the car when to push down and let up you will need to do this on each wheel several timesuntil you se no more air bubbles coming out into the line You also need to remove the cover from the master cylinder to keep it full with fluid make sure it never runs dry because it will **** air back into the system and you will have to start all over again Repeat these steps on each wheel working your way back to the master cylinder And know this if you see brake fluid leaking anywhere in to system you can;t bleed the system because if fluid is leaking out then air is leaking in good luck

My stop lights wont go off. Stay on all the tima.

There is a button above your brake pedel that probably isn't being pushed in all the way by the brake pedel to shut them off. Try pulling up on the brake pedel and have someone watch to see if they go off when you do that. If so the button for the brake pedel needs to be adjusted so it shut them off when the pedel is not pushed.

Wll not come out of park & no brake light

The problem you have is probably the button above the brake pedel is stuck in. This button ativates the brake light and will allow the car to come out of park when you press the brake. The easiest way to fix this would be to get down by the brake pedel and find the button and get some electronics spray and try to clean the button so it will come out. It is stuck in so the car does not realize you are pushing the brake. Clean the button press the brake pedel in and work the button in and out till its free. It it don't free up you will have to replace it. Good luck
