Being a 94, it's probably a speed sensor. Newer ones are in the transfer case.
If the plug is coming from the driver side its the crank sensor.
No this is twords the tail of the tranny on top not in the bellhousing
That's the one I'm talking about. There are three sensors on it. Crank, input shaft/turbine speed and output shaft/speed sensor.
What's the problem?

My 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee was doing the same thing. I changed the TPS ( Throttle Position Sensor) Now it is great goes into overdrive fine. It is really easy to change.
SOURCE: Where's the output transmi. sensor on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
if you mean speed sensor it is located on reductor where shaft comes out to rear dif. if you mean rpm sensor, it is located on top of transmition screwed vith two bolts in cilinder block.

SOURCE: jeep grand cherokee transmission clunk
well then it sounds to me as if you need a transmission replacement...a flush or service at this point won't do you any good, as the transmission is using the contamination in the fluid to build pressure. so if you flush it all away, then the new fluid is way too thin to build any pressure...just replace your transmission....
SOURCE: i have a 94 cherokee limited 5.2 v8. which transmissions are come
The 46rh is a hydraulic transmission as where the 46re is an electric transmission. With minor wiring you can replace the 46re with the 46rh but not the other way around. Your transmission would stay in limp mode and wouldn't shift out of 2nd gear. So the answer is no.
