SOURCE: 2002 ford Ranger 3.0 v6 (auto) rear end noise when accelerating on curves.

Grab the bed of the truck and vigorously rock the vehicle from side to side. If you hear clunking in the axle, you probably need to check the carrier bearings in the differential. I had the carrier bearings, wheel bearings, and seals replaced in my mother-in-law's 1991 Ranger for $280, and it rides like a new truck. Well, ok, it rides like an 18 year old truck with a new rear end. I provided the wheel bearings and seals to the shop, and they provided the carrier bearing, lube, and labor. While the axles are out, check the surface where the axles ride on the bearings. If they are worn, there are undersized bearing available, but it is usually cheaper and easier to just by new axles.

SOURCE: How do I remove step by step the gas tank of a

If you are needing to remove the gas tank to replace it, then you will need to empty the tank if you are able. You can buy a pump to siphon the gas for about ten dollars. Put a jack under the tank and jack it up to the tank just enough to barely put pressure on it. After that unbolt the two straps that hold it up. Remove the straps and slowly let the tank down. Try your best not to break the gas lines. Let it down far enough to see the gas pump. If it has a metal ring with little tabs on top of the pump. Take a hammer and a screwdriver and carefully tap on the tabs of the ring and move it until it releases the pump. If it is a snap ring holding the pump it, you will have to buy a special pair of pliers to get it out. A snap ring looks like a washer that has one gap in it, with two little holes on either side of the gap. If you are only wanting to remove the fuel pump, it is actually easier to remove the bed. To do that, undo the taillights and pull the wires through the bottom of the bed, and undo all of the bolts holding the bed down. If you do have to remove the tank, removing the bed will still make it easier, as well as greatly reducing the change of breaking a fuel line. good luck!

Ford ranger 1996 4.0L v6 single cab long bed it runs but you have 2 have your foot on the gas it does not stay in idle for more than 5min less than that usually it does not take much gas pedal pressure to...

I would suspect that you have a failing fuel pump, the fuel pump pressure is bleeding off due to a faulty check valve, this causes hard starting esp when cold or after sitting. The fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, the fuel tank must be removed to replace the fuel pump assembly.

My gas guage doesn't work in my truck. 1994 ford ranger, single cab,4.0L V6.

The most common reason is the sending unit inside the gas tank, look under the truck and locate the fuel tank, look for wires going to the tank, the wires will lead to top of the tank, unplug connector and fuel gauge should go to full, if the gauge moves then its the sending unit inside the tank, this would mean the wiring is good and the gauge also works and that leave the sending unit. good day.

NEED TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP FOR 1996 fORD eXPLORER, V6 4.0. WHERE IS IT AND HOW DO I GET TO IT?

Great SUV, I have the same model; for Ford Ranger/Explorer/Mountaineer 1991-1999 check this procedure to Fuel Pump - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION...
(see Figures 1, 2 and 3)

To gain access to the fuel pump, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank.
  1. Depressurize the fuel system and remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
  2. Remove any dirt that has accumulated around the fuel pump attaching flange, to prevent it from entering the tank during service.
  3. Turn the fuel pump locking ring counterclockwise using a locking ring removal tool and remove the locking ring.
  4. Remove the fuel pump and bracket assembly.
  5. Remove the seal gasket and discard it.
To install:
  1. Put a light coating of heavy grease on a new seal ring to hold it in place during assembly. Install it in fuel tank ring groove.

  1. Insert the fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank, then secure it in place with the locking ring. Tighten the ring until secure.
  2. Install the tank in the vehicle.
  3. Install a minimum of 10 gallons of fuel and check for leaks.
  4. Install a pressure gauge on the throttle body valve and turn the ignition ON for 3 seconds. Turn the key OFF , then repeat the key cycle five to ten times until the pressure gauge shows at least 30 psi. Reinspect for leaks at the fittings.
  5. Remove the pressure gauge. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.

2004 Chevy Trailblazer

The standard wheel base truck has a tank capacity of 22 Gallons and the long wheel base has a capacity of 25.3 Gallons.

If your rear doors are part of the rear wheel arch you have a short wheel base truck.
