To by pass the heater coil, you must connect the two hoses going into the heater coil. Did you do this? or did you just plug one hose line? best to replace heater coil if it is leaking to get heat working in winter.

SOURCE: no hot air from heater, blower runs fine

The heater in your car depends upon a flow of hot coolant going through the heater core in order to get hot air into the car. If the heater core is partially plugged, it will restrict the flow. If you have a head gasket that is putting exhaust into the cooling system, it will eventually get into the heater core. When this happens there is no coolant in the heater core to make the air warm. If the water pump vanes have corroded away the result will be very poor coolant circulation causing the heater to not blow hot air. If your car is equipped with a heater control valve that is not functioning properly, the coolant flow will be restricted. One or a combination of these factors is likely the culprit in your case.

Since you state the 2 things you ruled out, that leaves only the water pump. Is the car running hot? The thermostat may be sticking as well... but im leaning toward the pump.

SOURCE: water coming from somewhere on passenger side floor

Better bet it is the heater core locatecd under the dash on the passenger side., Replacing it is the only way to stop the leak. It is a big job, about 5+ hours for a experienced tech and you will need to discharge and recharge the AC system. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1996 cadillac deville overheat..radiator?

Check for coolant flow at the Purge line, this is a common problem on the Northstar.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank, this is the purge line.
With the engine idling, pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating. If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.

SOURCE: 1995 Chrysler Cirrus overheating

Probably not water pump. Engine is notourious for vapour lock.
Cooling system must be blead of air before thermostat will work. Cool bottom rad hose is a dead give away. If you are still watching this forum reply , and I will walk you through the only way I know how to make it work properly. It's actually easy if you do it my way. I have worked on lots of cars , and this engine was the hardest to bleed out. Did one Yesterday , and works perfect.

Water is coming in my 1996 Cadillac deville even after bypass heater core taking all the water from my radiator and coming inside my car some said drain but that wouldn't take water from a radiator right...

The obvious question is where exactly is the water inside the car, and is it cooling system, rain or car wash water? You should be able to determine which it is by smell/taste. Cooling system water pretty much has to be coming from the heater rad and should be building up on the passenger side floor pan. If that's the case and you have temporarily bypassed the rad, the water leak should eventually stop as all the water leaks out.

How do I remove and replace heater core in a 1993 Cadillac Coupe DeVille

With great difficulty is the answer. First get yourself into the front floor space upside down, look with lamp at heater /water pipes leading to heater. if no leaks seen, take to repair shop.

98 caddy deville nothstar v8 how to replace heater coil have no heat and I'm loosing water somewhere

the heater core in a 1998 Cadillac is very tricky to replace.
start with getting a pressure test to determine where the exact location of the leak is, it may not be the heater core.
if you do decide to pull the dash apart to change the core make sure the battery is disconnected for at least an hour to allow the airbag system to discharge.

I have a 1996 deville and the heater doesnt work. A/C works fine the blower blows cold a/c but when i turn on the heater it only blows out by the floor boards and it is cold. the vents dont work only...

Did you buy it used? Could be that the heater core was leaking and was disconnected by joining the hoses or hoses were rerouted. Another possibility is that the climate control valve which limits the amount of coolant to the heater core is not opening. It may need to be replaced.

I have white smoke coming from the tail pipe of my 1996 Cadillac DeVille. Not a blown head gasket, no water in the oil. Could it be my pistons or just needing new seal. Am I burning oil or have an oil leak...

hi... it all depends on the colour of the smoke... usualy blueish smoke will mean it is oil burning and your piston rings may be getting worn if it is black then it might be running too rich etc.. a little bit of water is fine infact usualy it is a good sign that your engine is not running rich or lean so it is pointing towards oil seals... also if it was running rich it would probably do it more when it was cold

My 1996 Cadillac Sedan Deville heater blows cool air and engine is running at normal temps. It never seems to get up to temperature.

If you are not the original owner, the previous owner may have bypassed the heater core. The heater core is like a small radiator that has hot water running through it from your motor. It is inside of your dash board, near your a/c and heater controls. That is how yur car gets hot air. The air runs through the heater core making it hot. Bypassing it is a cheap and quick fix for a leaking heater core. When they get a leak, they leak all inside the car down to the floor board. Check under the hood along the fire wall. If it is bypassed, you will see two hoses spliced together. One will be bigger that the other slightly. If this is your problem, you are more thatn likely need to replace your heater core
