2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor power liftgate has stopped working. Can not open it from the outside. Also the glass which opens seperately will not open either. Only way to open is to use inside emergency release. All other power door locks are working properly. Problem first started intermitantly in the cold weather but now it has stopped working completely.
The solution for this problem turned out to be the lift gate handle which is the switch was broken. Need to disassemble the interior of the lift gate to get to switch but very easy fix.The solution for this problem turned out to be the lift gate handle which is the switch was broken.

Yes. Inside the rear hatch, in the plastic trim panel, you should see a small square access panel. It will be down near the floor with the hatch closed. Pry that off and you'll find a white lever that will open the hatch.
The door and the glass just needs some penetrating lubricant( WD 40 ), just a few squirt will do on hinges and locks!
The drainage hose would be under the passenger side( RiGHT FRONT SiDE) glove box, look down there, u will see a black hose from the center that houses ur A/C & heater housing! Lift up ur floor covering to see it clearly. check and clean the hose it might already been clogged by moss and dirt or dislocated thru the drain holes on the flooring!
Hope that helps out!
Taah!
I had the same trouble and found that I had to disconnect the glass hatch switch. It is probably defective like mine. I had to release the door by going from the inside and opening a little plastic door and open the whole hatch by using the emergency lever. Then I had to unscrew the plastic panel near the glass hatch and pry it apart just enough to disconnect the glass hatch switch. It is just a small connector that pulls apart. There are two connectors. One for the back wiper and then the glass hatch so make sure you disconnect the right one. This allows me to use the whole door but the glass hatch becomes useless unless you get a new switch.
The 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor does not support MP3 playback or Ipod adapter. You would have to install an aftermarket stereo in the CD slot below the HVAC (A/C) controls.
This is due to the microswitch inside the glass hatch failing. It will not let you open the door because it is unsure if the glass is open or not.
Here is how to verify this:
Manually open the glass hatch. Remove the two philips screws from the cover on the back of the handle area, and unscrew the plastic plug with the slot in it. You should now be able to remove the cover. You will see the harness coming off the glass handle going to a connector. Unplug this white two wire connector. Your rear hatch should now open normally, just without glass opening.
To repair this, you will need to replace the glass hatch handle. It is a dealer-only part, and the cost is about $35.
To replace it, simply remove the 2 10mm nuts behind it (visible with the cover off that you just removed) and replace the handle and plug it back in. Now all functions will work.

Does this not open from inside or outside or both.
If it opens from the inside and not the outside look at the door opening near the latch. Look for the small lever "child-lock" just move the lever in the oposite direction.
If the door doesn't open from inside or outside I would ask has anyone try to unlock the car using a "slim-jim" if so they may have caused the lock rod to come off the latch on the inside. You'll need to remove the door trim panel and see the the rod has come off. With any luck it will just pop back on if the nothing is broken.
Today is your lucky day. Get inside of your vehicle to open the lift gate and then open the glass from the inside as well . From the outside of the vehicle with the gate down and the glass open you will see the cover on the glass held in place by two screws. Remove this cover to expose the micro switch for the glass opening handle. You will see a small white connector and with a little patience you can remove this connector. If the glass switch is bad your hatch will now open and your glass should close without having to lock the locks. The switch is a dealer item and goes for around $50 and a bit more dissassembly of window to replace switch/Handle. Happened to me and cost 100 just for them to tell me what was wrong. I used a stick to poke the safty latch for almost two yrs
