I have removed the thermostat, changed fans, changed top cylinder Gasket.
First pressure test the radiator for leakage throughout the cooling system (or Blockage) then you should have it checked for flow percentage. If that all checks out do a complete flush making sure to use the correct anti freeze. (providing you have checked rad fan switch, cool temp sensor, and cap.) If there is no water showing in the oil then check for bubbles in rad while car is running. Just make sure by vin # that you use the correct antifreeze because adding or mixing the green and red can cause gelling in the coolant system.

I would check and make sure the fans are comming on check the thermo fan switch and relay are working fine have a look in the radiator and see if there are any bubbles if there is that means you have gases entering the water it could be a crack in the block or head it could be a hair line crack the best thing if you do have a crack is to get a bottel of chemiweld and put it in the radiator it is very hard to find a hair line crack get the radiator clean out put a new thermostat hope this helps with your problem
The Coolant Temperature Sensor on these cars is a common fault.
It's a $25 part and a 10 min fix.
The water pump should be getting replaced at every timing belt service, but it's worth inspecting. The factory pumps had or have a plastic impeller which can come loose on the shaft. Aftermarket pumps usually have a metal impeller and are less likely to loosen.
it's also worth giving the radiator a flush to ensure its flowing Ok. Replacement aftermarket radiators for the B5 A4 are pretty cheap now.
If you have taken the thermostat out already it could be water pump which is common fault are you using water
Testimonial: "So your suggesting water pump change for now right? What if the overheating continue after changing the water pump? My mechanic told me that radiator could be the problem can he be correct?"
remove the rad lie it down on the floor with pipes pointing in the air then fill with water once the rad is full of water pick it up to the vertical position if it glugs it's blocked if it runs out free with no slowing down in the flow it's clear. as for the water I would remove it and check the plastic blades on the the back I've had them look perfect but hold the pulley where the belt runs and try to see if you can turn the blades. have you had a head gasket test done are you losing water

if your over heating take thermostat OUT first before u buy anything else. I bought 3 thermostats at parts store all bad. i think the design is very restrictive especially if you put crack sealer in rad. like bars leak
SOURCE: P0303 and P1300 together (Cyl. 3 Misfire)
CODE P1300 IS MISFIRE DETECTED FUEL PROBLEM. WHICH MEAN 3 FUEL INJECTOR IS CLOGGED UP.HAVE FUEL INJECTORS CLEAN AND CHANGE FUEL FILTER.
SOURCE: hi.my a4's overheating and seemingly no oil pressure.
well you may have put the gasket back on wrong blocking the oil hole which supplies the oil to the head, this would cause the low oil pressure and the oil light coming on.
If the gasket is on the wrong way it may be causing the overheating problem as well by blocking or partially blocking the water holes in the head that allow the water to get to the head and cool it down.
these are the only things I can think of apart from maybe a cracked block caused by the overheating but that would not explain the lack of oil to the rockers
Hope this helps

The radiator fan is of no value above 35 mph due to the amount of air being forced through the radiator. Your problem appears to be with the thermostat. It's relatively inexpensive and easy to change. You should have the fan repaired for low speed and idle cooling.. It's more than likely a faulty relay, It is also a quick fix and relays are inexpensive. Good Luck, Ned

I suggest having a good tech work on it. That's a good engine but difficult to work on.
