First check your fuel system, replace fuel filter, also check your fuel pressure regulator on your fuel rail it may be leaking internally if ok check your fuel pump operation. if your fuel system is ok then check for a restricted catalytic converter its a common fault I encounter with them. if that to checks out ok then have the ecm scanned by a shop or the dealer could be a faulty engine speed sensor or crank or cam sensor

Why want my 2002 Nissan Altima want rev over 2500 RMP?

It sounds like you have a problem with the AWU. Accelerator Working Unit, a fancy term for the gas petal. If it is not getting the proper voltage to the ECM it will default to a RPM like you are geting, 2000-2500 rpm. Find one from a junkyard and try it out. I would not shake anything that will just cause other issues.

Nissan altima high rpms

spray plug wires with a water bottle and have someone power brake the vehicle the plug wires are the likely cause under load spark is hotter than at idle and has a breakdown

My 02 Nissan Altima started stalling out while I was driving on freeway about a week ago. I have cleaned fuel tank checked battery and fluids, and it still stalls at around 2500 rpm or approximately 10 min...

VERY interesting ... Rodney2764,

I HAVE seen similar issues before...

Everything else seems to be good. I would be
thinking about having an EXHAUST shop look
for a loose MUFFLER baffle or collapsing
CATALYTIC CONVERTER...

A rusted or loose part inside can COMPLETELY
block EXHAUST OUTFLOW...

It is not a COMMON trouble... but certainly worth
the look (while you are mobile (my opinion...
RATHER than WASTING time & money
buying A WHOLE lot of UNNECESSARY oxygen
sensors
( get mistakenly replaced )...

(( from "FREE" code readings )).

((( really difficult to resolve when you are immobile ))).

Hope this helps...

The RPM of Nissan Altima stays high when drive over 65 MPH.

No....the rpms differ from engine to engine and from manufacturer to manufacturer. RPM's are always higher at higher speeds.

When starting car the rpms jump up to 2000 then jump down to 500 while feeling like the engine is going to stall out then the rpms go to a normal idle but idles rough for about 5 seconds

its becouse the cars computer tries to heat its self for it not to work when it is too cold
so just leave it there for a while till the rpm go to normal
