Although the passkey sensor may be at fault, there is an older system that prevents starting your car unless your foot is on the brake. See if your brakelights work. If they do not, then the control switch on your brake pedal lever has been knocked out of position or broken.

Assuming there's no button to press when taking the key out, try rocking the steering wheel to left and right at the same time as trying to remove the key. Sometimes the ignition lock engages at the same time as the steering lock.

I have a 2004 Lexus Es 330 and the maintenance req light is on it has 51,540 miles

This should be reset when the oil is changed [ you may be due for service ]. to reset make sure the odometer is set on total miles, make sure the key is off, push on the reset button, turn on igntion key keeping your finger on the button- the mileage numbers will be replaced by a groupe of dashes, they will go out from left to right. Once all are out you should hear a chime- it's reset.

When I turn the key to the start position, the starter does not engage

first check the battery make sure its fully charged then check fuses and relays then check startor motor and if it is not any of these it could be the igntion switch good luck

My key will not come out of the igntion, it is

the key will only come out in 'lock' try pushing key into switch while turning to lock position,rock steering wheel back & forth at the same time.key is worn-try spare key or have a new one made.

2007 Volvo S80 V8 Sedan Service reset light

Install remote/key into socket.  Push and hold trip button on instrument cluster with all doors shut.  Push start button one time for key position one while holding trip button and count to five.  keep holding trip button and hit start button to key position two where all the warning lites come on the instrument cluster while still holding trip button.  Count to around ten and triangular warning lite should flash. Release button and remove key and then start engine.  May take a few attempts to reset this lite.

PUSH AND HOLD RESET ODOMETER BUTTON, TURN IGNITION IN ON POSITION ONLY (DO NOT START ENGINE)UNTIL LIGHT TURNS OFF. TURN IGNTION OFF AND START ENGINE.
BRAKE LIGHT, MAY BE LOW IN FLUID OR LOW BRAKE PADS.
