The "crank position sensor" or "neutral safety switch" will only allow the automobile to start if the transmission shifter is in the park or neutral positions. If your transmission shifter is located on the steering column it will be in the engine compartment on the steering shaft attached with one bolt and an additional one for adjustment. Try shifting all the way from park to the end (usually 1st gear) and back to park, then try starting again. The sensor may simply require adjustment and tightening, if you do this yourself be sure to use a drop of locktite to prevent future reoccurrence.

How will the car perform if the crankshaft sensor is bad?

it will not crank usually with a bad crank sensor usually this is a misunderstood code for the crank position sensor being out though as the code for that is the same as the code for the cam position sensor, more times than not the cam position sensor is the issue nt the crank. i have recently been throught his one myself and spent $40.00 i didn't have to by not knowing this and just replacing the cam position sensor and calling it a day.
IF the cam position sensor is gone out the car will still start but it will only catch and turn over if the starter is able to crank it at above 1100 RPM and when it does start it will be rough idle and the car will die as soon as you take your foot off of the gas pedal.

Problem 1994 Buick 3.8L misfire coils

Yes that's correct. Crank pick up is the crank pos. sensor. Although knowing these 3.8s, the sensor itself was rarely the problem, it was the crank pulley that was badly manufactured and split in two more or less after a few years and that left the tooth gear used with the position sensor free as a bird and not giving any signal to the sensor. So either way, they are in the same area so easily inspectable both at the same time and definetly where i would start looking.

No spark or fire to plugs

Sounds like a bad crank position sensor or a bad camshaft position sensor.... If the sensors can't tell the ecm where the position the crankshaft or camshaft is, the ecm won't know when to send a spark. So the ecm won't send any spark.

Van will not start code p0725 what to do

Without knowing make or model Po725 is a Chrysler code for Engine Speed Sensor Circuit
Possible Causes- - Open or shorted CKP sensor circuit condition
- Poor CKP sensor electrical connection
- Check communication error between the ECM and TCM
- Failed CKP Sensor
When is the code detected- The P0725 Codes is triggered when TCM does not receive the engine speed signal from ECM. Chrysler description- The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine speed through the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor with the engine running, and send signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM

Y dont i have spark but got power it will turn over but wont start from ignition module 2 coil 2 da timing belt do u think it could b my crak position sensor

yes it could be the crank position sensor. if the crank position sensor is bad and not allowing the car to start there should be a code for it showing current fault for crank position sensor. Also depending and year and model there is an additional fuse and/or fuse relay that can also cause a no spark condition. Let me know the year and model of your mercedes and I can give you more specifics on where to look.

Was told cam postion sencor might be bad? Replace not it! now was told my autozone guy might be crank sencor? But need a pix or something i can't find it? your help is needed! Thank you Darren

well i dont know what year is but the crank position sensor is locate it behind crank pulley in order to have acces to the sensor you ne to remove the pulley first. Note when the crank sensor is bad there should be no fire at your sparks. before keep spending more money dont know if you checked for gas coming to the engine.

My alternator belt broke i fixd it now my car wont start it cranks but sounds funny

I am not sure where the crank position sensor is on your car but when the alternator belt broke on my Buick it trashed the crank sensor that is located next to the crank shaft pulley. The computer needs the crank senor to know the position of the crank shaft. If the sensor is bad the car will not start.
