Have you done a tune lately on the car?
I would also suspect a fuel pump problem is you've done a tune up recently.

SOURCE: 2004 hyundai accent. trouble filling gas tank

The fill tube for the fuel tank is either clogged with something or the anti-siphon feature (what stops people from stealing your gas) is fouled up. The tank and fill tube have to be inspected.

I got a 2002 Buick LeSabre and I just replaced two fuel pumps because they get real hot and they slow down on working out and get about 5 miles out of both of them and now I gotta replace the third

Eloy, if the pumps are heating up, you must be running with very low fuel in your gas tank, fuel is a must to keep pump cool and lubricated or you are continually getting bad pumps. Clean tank thoroughly, replace the sock on end of pump, replace fuel filter check to make sure there are no pinched collapsed fuel lines.Try running gas tank no lower then quarter tank and buy a quality replacement pump and give it a try.

Why is there no fuel returning to my fuel tank

23 psi is no where near enough to run let alone get past the regulator so no gas will return to the tank. Need 40 to 50 psi to run. So either you have a fuel leak could be in the tank or a line. Or the pump is junk

2008 ford escape won't fill with gas, the pump clicks off after less that 1/2gallon of gas added

You have a high pressure fuel pump in the tank the engine must be off when fueling and you must run the pump slow because the force of the flow causes the pump to click off also when you turn the gas cap to remove it do you here any noise a swoosh sound and is the cap very hard to turn to loosen it if so your getting vapor lock and your fuel pressure regulator is bad but it just might be the high flow pressure from the gas pump try another gas station and again run it slow if the same thing happens investigate the fuel stem this is where you put the gas in but at the tank side check the rubber hose it maybe bent was the car in a rear end collision that you know if? If so the tank could be misaligned causing the bending of the stem/hose post back with more info ok and I'll get you there I just need you to go through the process of elimination and I'm a taxi mechanic in NYC with 50 years experience in all fazes of automotive repairs collision work to ok remember that I'm not there at the vehicle so you need to be my eyes and ears ok thanks Stephen

P0446 code came up. Car runs fine. I will tell you that filling it with gas is a major pain. Cant get more than about $6 to $7 dollars in gas before the fill tube fills up and makes the gas pump click off....

Hello: This code indicates a problem with the evap system vent valve. A stuck closed vent valve will affect the fueling, if air can,t get out of the tank while fueling you will have a hard time filling the tank. You didn't say what year/model you have so the valve may be near the fuel tank or inside the tank. This problem should not affect fuel mileage.

Very hard to fill my gas tank when it is empty. gas sprays out the filler neck until i get about 1/4 tank of gas put in. then problem goes away. help

Not sure but maybe the fuel pump is very hot making the fuel boil. Maybe check to see if the tank is hot, ( touch it ) if it is the fuel pump or the fuel filter needs to be changed. The pump is very powerful and with the filter clogged up it'll work real hard to deliver the fuel at the correct pressure. This will make the fuel ump real hot hick may make it boil the cool fuel added. Does it do this if the tank has more fuel in it? A fuel pump that's getting this hot isn't a good thing and should be followed up on. The other thing that might be happening is the fuel inlet hose is picnced and the fuel is being reversed. But it seems like the lavel won't matter. Maybe the tank is'nt venting corectly and the tank is being sucked flat as it emplties and as it fills it goes back in shape. ( alot less likly.)

The 325 Ci I am driving ran out of gas. I tried

You might have killed your fuel pump. It's said that if you let the tank get too low or run the pump dry you can ruin it. I would see about getting a fuel pressure tester to check it.

Stupidity

Here is the sad news, if you ran the truck out of gas chances are you destroyed the electric fuel pump in the tank, why? the fuel pump is very small, it is able to do it's job only because it is cooled by the gas it is submersed in, if you run out of gas or run very low allot it ruins the bearings in the pump and it freezes up, u will need to drop the gas tank and install a new fuel pump, I see this ALLOT!
