SOURCE: Valve cover removal
See the cover, there are 8 or more screws, maybe one or two connect to a small part, but all of them should be on the cover, just loss all of them, you will get the cover out, before you change the gasket, clean the surface of both side, cover and the head, then use the grease instead of glue.slowly and make sure it is stright to cover it and screw back, do not make to tight, it is going to break the gasket and also do not maker too loss, it will be leaking. you have to do just right.
hope this can help you, if yo have any question, post it.
SOURCE: Leaks oil looks like from valve cover
You have to remove the spark plugs cables and remove the four nuts that you see when the cables are removed.
When the four nuts are removed, simply raise the valuve cover. When replacing the gasket, make sure you get the gromets as well. Those sometimes get worn or crack since they are more exposed than the value cover gasket. Make sure that you clean the cover from oil and replace the gasket with no use of silicon.
Good Luck.
SOURCE: 1997 Camry Valve Cover Gasket Replacement
Removal of the plenum is pretty straight forward. You will need to replace the plenum gasket after you remove it; the gasket is not reusable. Personally, if I was going to take the trouble to remove the plenum, I would replace the plugs and wires back there, also.
I know, I have a 93 Camry V6, and it is a real pain to do the plugs and wires with the plenum on. There are no secrets or great tips on the plenum removal, just take your time. Remember that there are different size bolts, and where they go. Please get back to me if you need any more info...Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa to resolve your issue.
The graciousness of a FixYa rating for my assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Replace the half round rubber gromets at the cylinder head ends just under the gasket you replaced
SOURCE: my celica is burning oil
Your car is probably burning oil through the piston rings due to wear. The valve cover gasket will show signs of leaking from the space between the valve cover and the head. Remove one of your spark plugs and see if it is black and oily. You can try using a little thicker oil than what you have now or just add a little in as it burns off. Buy a quart of name brand 20w/50 and use that to top off the oil as it burns off. You should notice a difference.
