The headlight switch is part of a muti-switch the runs the lights on one side and wipers on the other. They are not cheep.
1) remove air bag
2) remove steering wheel
3) remove steering colum covers
4) unplug multi- switch (there may be 2 screws that hold the plug to the colum
5) remove screws (I think there is 4 screws) that hold multi-switch
6) remove muti-switch. (there may be a ty-wrap or wire harness holder you will need to free the wires from)
7) reverse order to reinstall

Both of my headlights on my Subaru outback stopped working at once

The dimmer switch on the turn signal stalk can be open, so that either the high beams, the low beams, or neither the high or low work. It requires a new turn signal switch, sometimes listed as a multifunction switch.

Why are the headlights staying on when ignition is off

Under your hood is a plastic box with relays in it, the headlight relay is stuck. Tap it with something and it will release. Probly should replace the relay. See owners manual or google the headlight relay location. Cheap at an auto store.

Regular headlights stopped working, brights still operational

I think I answered this question this morning, but it may have been for a different car.
Assuming the headlights are ok, I would check for power in and out of the dimmer switch, then the headlight switch.
Both are incorporated into the turn signal switch on the column.

Where is the horn located on a 1987 subaru gl10 4wd? Horn gradually weakened and then stopped working altogather.

Well, if this is like my 93 Subaru Loyale, (2wd) there are actually two horns. Each are located just under the headlights. Absolute access to these (if the same) will require the front bumper being removed, or by pulling out the headlights.Considering the headlights need to be aligned to a specific direction, and are hard to re-position, I suggest removing the bumper instead. Your choice.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

'91 Subaru: dash & running lights won't turn on with headlights

This is a problewm I have been researching. On the 91 Loyale there are two headlight relays. The relay for the left headlight also controls the instrument lights and the running lights. If the right relay is working and the left is not, the left headlight will be dim because of a back electrical path through the high beam indicator light on the dash, but the instrument and running lights will be out. I have been trying to find out where Subaru put these relays, but three Subaru service departments have been no help. One dealer's service department told me to remove the large bezel around the instrument panel. I did and the relays weren't there. Lots of luck.
