SOURCE: toyota matrix how do I get the maint required

A plug in computer reader is needed to reset the computer. Did a shop do the work? - they should know better. Take it back and have'em reset it. If you did it, then you could buy the reader (expensive) or go the way of the shop option

SOURCE: 2006 Toyota Matrix transmission

If I'm undersatanding you correctly this could be a shift solenoid. I would take it to an ASE certified transmission shop. This repair is beyond a DIYer.

it happens when you don't check out the garage you take it to. But it sounds like it is the shops responsibility. and the dealers. if your oil light never came on it could also mean a bad sensor.

2006 matrix shifting in transmission problem

This is a known condition. And, is under warranty.

Take your vehicle to a Toyota dealership. Ask them to replace your ECU per TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) TC015-07. The new ECU has redesigned logic that rectifys your condition.
