Bulbs used in most other lighting fixtures fit into sockets and are held in place by spring tension or mechanical force.
how do i change the rear tail lamp bulb in my 2006 - f19-42.gif Common type of automotive bulbs. Bulbs are coded with numbers for replacement purposes. Bulbs with different code numbers might appear physically similar but have different wattage ratings.
There are two basic construction designs for exterior lights: those in which the lens is removed and then the bulb removed from the front, and those in which the light assembly must first be removed, then the socket from the back of the assembly, and finally the bulb from the socket.

  • Removing the lens from the latter type assembly could cause serious damage to the reflector due to dust and other contaminants.
  • Wiping the reflector surface to clean it can also seriously reduce the light's brightness. Therefore, do not remove the lens from light assemblies in which the socket and bulb are removed from the back of the assembly.
  • The bulbs are held in their sockets in a number of ways.
  • Some bulbs are simply pushed into and pulled out of their sockets, and some are screwed in and out.
  • To release a bayonet-style bulb from its socket, the bulb is pressed in and turned counterclockwise.
  • The blade-mount style is removed by pulling the bulb off the mounting tab, then turning the bulb and removing it from the retaining pin.
  • To replace a bulb, remove the bulb accordingly from its socket, and insert a new bulb.

I suggest you try one of those instant download manuals. My nephew bought one for me when my car broke and we could fix it all by ourselves with the manual costing $10. This website reliable-store.com is very good for this.
?Try it.

Changing headlamp on a 06 pontiac montana

There should be two or 3 wing nuts securing the headlamp assembly on. Remove the nuts and the housing should just slide out for you to change the bulb

Real right turn signal light - Pontiac Montana SV6 2005

If the 2005 Montana is similar to the 2001 Montana, I have a solution. First you'll need a hexagonal wrench (the 6-sided L-shaped wrench). The tail light assembly is held on by two screws. You'll need the hexagonal wrench to remove them, because a normal screwdriver won't do it. I also had to use a conventional adjustable wrench to get the leverage to turn the hexagonal wrench, because the screws were in there pretty tight. Once you remove the two screws, the whole tail light assembly should come off. Mine required a little force and I had to play with it a bit, but it came off without a lot of work. There will be one set of wires that connects the tail light assembly to the rest of the minivan--try not to damage that set of wires. Once you get the tail light assembly off, you'll have to take apart the assembly that actually holds the lights. No tools should be required. It's held on by four plastic catches. Just undo the catches (easier said than done, but still not too tough) and it comes apart. Then you can pop out the old light and pop in the new light. Then re-assemble. For me, it went back together much easier than it came apart.
