Because the rear and front brakes have different braking ability because of disc rotor size and or rear drum brakes it is necessary to reduce the braking efficiency of the rear brakes to stop the rear end skidding out on sharp stops, wet roads and inclines . To do this there is a small pressure regulator ( equaliser) that allows some pressure through at partial brakes eventually increasing the pressure available to full brakes .IT may be in the ABS unit if you have one or in the rear hydraulic line under the body. The failure rate of this unit is exceedingly small so I would be checking things like pad/lining thickness and seized caliper pins that are not allowing the caliper to centralise and allow both pads to work on the discs or seized pistons in the wheel cylinders that is not allowing full pressure onto the shoes in the drums

The test procedure used is a bit iffy to say the least as there are inspection shops that have a driven rollers that the wheels sit on and register a resistance when the brakes are applied . As all manufacturers have different braking resistances registared with the relevant authority I would be looking for such a palce to have the brakes properly tested.

SOURCE: Brake line burst 1999 ford expedition

Which brake line are you talking about?. The metal steel ones,or the rubber ones. Doesn't matter. If you are buying the rubber ones, then just ask for them by year and model of truck.

If you are working with the steel ones, they are either going to be 5/16 or 1/4 depending which line it is. the 5/16 ones are usually attached to the master cylinder or the ABS unit. The fittings sometimes if you don't find the right one have to be re used, in which case you will need to flare the tubing. (Double Flare) Or you can go to the dealer, pay an arm and a leg, but you don't have to flare the tubing, which takes the fun out of the job.

SOURCE: I have 1999 Mercedes Benz e300 Turbo Diesel and

Hi there
Its probably not a fuse issue as that would affect both sides.
when you replace a blub especially the brake lights it is possible to deform that nice flat panel of metalic strips and if you look carefully it sometimes breaks the plastic pins on which it sits, this causes poor connection to the functional bulb, the soloution is easy, get a small piece of card and fold it over till its about 2-3 mm thick then wedge it behind the panel of strips (top outside corner for brake light) and hey presto the light should work again, top tip use an umbrella and the electric seat to make sure the brake pedal is deppressed to check if alone.

SOURCE: how to reset airbag for mercedes benz c220 1994

This can not be reset by conventional methods. This must be done through a scan tool. Usually only the dealer scan tool will communicate with the SRS module. If the SRS light is on you have other issues and they must be remedied before the light will go out. There is no way of knowing what the issue is without running codes with the scan tool.

What bulb goes to the top brake light on 2003 Mercedes Kompressor c230

Do you mean the centre brake light in the rear window? The standard brake lights on the right and left side of the car use a standard brake light bulb. The centre 'third' brake light is a sealed unit and has to be replaced as a complete fitting. Both jobs are easy enough to do yourself.

Can I remove brake equaliser on 1996 ford bantam

Absolutely NOT. You will find your brakes will operate erratically. The rear brakes will lock up and skid way before the front brakes lock up. The amount of fluid the rear brakes take to apply even pressure is way more that the disc brakes up front. That is the purpose of the equalizer. It makes sure an equal amount of braking force is applied to all four wheels.

I have a Mercedes a160 2003, the brake light fuse keeps blowing. I have changed the brake pedal switch. the abs,bas lights comes on and vehicle goes in limp mode . please advise

Have you checked the basics, like rear lamp connections, wiring to the lamps, whether the correct bulbs have been fitted to the brake lights, don't forget to check the high level brake light and the wiring to it ( check condition of wiring on tailgate hinge ) if central locking or rear wiper also has a problem the chances are your fault lies with the wiring on the t/gate hinge area, Regards Mike
