Code p0001 6.5 diesel will not start and shows code P0001 fuel volume regulator control circuit /open i have already changed out the PMD and it still will not start!

P0001 is the OBD-II generic code describing an issue with the circuit which runs from your engine computer (ECM) to your fuel pressure regulator on your fuel injection rail on your engine. The ECM regulates your fuel pressure from your fuel pump going to your engine through this circuit.
code p0001refers to fuel volume regulator control--circuit open===causes --wiring --regulator control solenoid
code p 0002 refers to same unit ---circuit range/ performance===causes --same as as for p0001
check for loose /dirty harness connections
replace fuel pressure regulator

Symptoms of a P0001 DTC will include MIL (Malfunction indicator lamp) illumination, although there may be other symptoms
If you get this DTC, you may want to try reading the codes using another (if possible) higher quality code reader. Even clear the code and see if the code comes back. This code is not common and sometimes is shown in error due to the design of the code reader (e.g. the code reader function is a secondary function of a tuner device).

Now with the code you said you had, P01768. DTC P1768 will set when TCM senses less than 3 volts at transmission control relay output (switched battery) terminals at TCM, prior to TCM energizing relay
Possible Cause
" Low battery voltage.
" Open fused B+ circuit to transmission control relay.
" Open ground circuit.
" Transmission control relay output circuit shorted to ground.
" Open transmission control relay circuit.
" Defective transmission control relay.
" Malfunctioning TCM. (very rare)
Ian, P0001 fuel volume regulator control circuit/open, may be an electrical problem related to the fuel volume regulator. clear the code and see if it comes back P0051 Oxygen sensor heater control circuit low, bank 2, sensor 1.
Normally a bad wire/plug on sensor or sensor faulty.

However, this may not actually be correct on your vehicle, as seemingly error code P0001 is not used by many manufacturer's.. it's a 'generic' code.

Out of the box, I'd say that you have a problem with the fuel management system. However, there's a good chance that it's something simple and inexpensive like a clogged fuel filter or water in the fuel tank.
