Purchased brand new 2013 toyota camry August 2013 was given 1 keyless remote control had to go back 2 weeks later to get 2nd keyless remote, 4 days ago my husband took keys out of his pocket the inside of keyless remote missing he only had the key shell attached to the part that goes into car ignition.lokked outside found the inside of keyless remote still works did not find the red and white covers...how does this happen? Remote shell is in tack no signs that is has been dropped or tampered with...no scratches. Nothing! Can anyone solve this mystery?

sit in car all doors closed put key in ignition and turn from OFF to ACC 3 times as fast as you can leaving it in ACC on the last cycle then press your remote button. your blinkers should flash to tell you this has worked.... may take you a couple of tries to get it!!

It sounds like your ignition lock cylinder has a problem. These can be replaced and keyed to match you present key by a locksmith. Call a locksmith for a estimate.

have you had the undercarriage inspected for white stains from coolant, rust stains if your system is corroded? How many miles? has the water pump ever been replaced, that would be my guess, water pumps leak while the eng is running and the hot engine evaporates the coolant, so in many cases none on the ground. Also have the system pressure tested by a shop and put on a rack to check for signs of leaking under the car.

If your car has an alarm with a separate remote, it is a separate system and it is probably self-arming. When you lock the doors with the key central lock, the alarm gets armed by the RAV4 being OFF and the door locking action. When you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm is still armed because the key is not comunicating with the alarm just the cars factory keyless system.
