Check your brake fluid level. If it is low, that light will come on. If the fuid level is ok, and the switch is ok, check the p/b switch

parking brake switches are usually normally open and go closed when the brake is engaged, the brake handle going up releases the switch and then presses it back down when you put the brake handle down, 9 out of 10 times the switch gets pushed to the side or broken so when you put the brake handle down it does not push the switch down. this would be the first place I would look.
The parking brake light is also an indication of a problem with the brake system

What brake fluid used on 2003 Land Rover Discovery

I use DOT 4 fluid, Castrol. It has a higher boiling point, which is better for a heavy vehicle

2003 land rover discovery cruise control system

if it stopped working make sure your brake lights aren't on. If they are you have a bad brake switch (located under the brake pedal). It's easy to replace. If the lights are not on check the vacuum hose isn't split coming off the intake area. easy fix as well.

Series II Discovery oil leak from the front steering union

Unfortunately Discoveries will always eventually leak some fluid, People who say theirs do not leak have just not found the problem yet. I just traded a 2003 for a new vehicle. First the power steering can and does leak but since the fluid capacity is not that much, if you have a continous leak and the power steering still works it is probably not the leak you need to address. also the plastic splash guard makes it difficult to identify leaks easily. My 2003 discovery was leaking for a while the leak was from the auto trans cooler. Check the leak colour, white paper under car, red fluid will be the trans fluid, The power steering fluid in the car is a special fluid (not trans fluid) if the correct fluid would be a greenish colour. Other than this oil leaks can be plentiful.

ABS LIGHT ON, SHIFT LOCKED, NO BRAKE LIGHT.

If your brake lights don't work Its because you blew the fuse  which Is located In the main fuse panel under steering wheel.  Without break lights your rover will fire up nice but wont shift out of park until you replace the fuse.  If your ABS Is acting up It Is also an easy fix.  Disconnect the ABS from each wheel.  You still got all wheel disc breaks that work great but no ABS.  Your other option is  thousands of $$.  If your breaks are weak check your master cylinder and make sure you got enough fluid and that you are not loosing the fluid.  If you notice you are leaking brake fluid because you have to keep filling it up but cannot find a leak anywhere.  I bet I know where It is.  Check your rear break lines and make sure one of them didn't get caught in your rear springs and pinched ever so slightly when you were doing dounuts In the snow.
Good luck,
