Hold the close button for about six seconds. If that doesnt work try holding the open button for six seconds. its one of those that will reset your auto open. I just cant remember which one it is.

Is the motor receiving power? If not you have to check electrical system to locate the place that is not transmitting power. Could be a fuse/relay, switch, bad connection.
If the motor is turning and nothing happens then the drive mechanism from motor to sunroof is stripped. Not good.
Remove the lens on the overhead light by prying it off with a screwdriver.
Slide the locking tabs towards the windshield and pull down on the housing to remove the inside of the roof light assembly. Leave the wiring connected.
Insert the S shaped Allen wrench supplied with the vehicle into the left side motor hole.

Hi I have the same vehicle and had the same problem once try unplugging the battery let the computer restart it self and that would probably work I did the same and it worked for mine is your sunroof automatic do you have to hold the button.
Some sunroofs have a open switch like the drivers window. You push it and the window will open automaticly. The button on your sunroof could be jammed so even though you can close it as soon as you release it, it will auto open on it's own.
Sometimes if you disconnect the battery, the sunroof will lose its automatic operation. In order to reset it, you will need to manually cycle the sunroof all the way open, all the way closed, and all the way vented and closed.
to reset any window open it half way down then let it fully close and hold the button up for about 10 seconds. do this mithod to all auto windows encloding the sunroof . afterall try them from the driver side
the procedure for resetting the travel limits for the sunroofs of the lr3's is with the engine running, hold the sunroof switch to the open position until the sunroof automatically opens and closes and stops moving. this takes about a minute. i'm not positive that the procedure is the same on the freelanders, but it's worth a shot. if it doesnt work in the open position try it again in the closed position. good luck!
