I drove home, about 15 minutes of driving. about 30 minutes later had to run out and get something and car would not start. engine turned over but would not start ( it was 94* outside). I let it sit for a few hours, when it was cooler-went out to start it and it fired right up.
This morning it fired right up to go to work. then this afternoon on my way home about 5 minutes from my place, my engine just died ( 90* outside). tried to start it, it would just turn over but not start. waited about 10 minutes. tried it again and it started right up and drove the rest of the way home.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it?
Crank sensor. Next time it does this spray some water on it and see if it cranks. Its by the crankshaft pulley towards front of car.
I have the same car, a few weeks ago on the way home from work the car just quit, i had it towed to my garage and the next morning i called the mechanic and he wanted to know what was wrong with it as he got in and it started right away. He found out it was the crank position sensor that had to be replaced cars been fine ever since.

Usually this type of problem traces back to either a crank position sensor or a bad fuel pump. There a number of other items that can do this as well but you really need some diagnostic testing before replacing anything.
