92 buick lesabre: yesterday, it would not start when it was hot.

I drove home, about 15 minutes of driving. about 30 minutes later had to run out and get something and car would not start. engine turned over but would not start ( it was 94* outside). I let it sit for a few hours, when it was cooler-went out to start it and it fired right up.
This morning it fired right up to go to work. then this afternoon on my way home about 5 minutes from my place, my engine just died ( 90* outside). tried to start it, it would just turn over but not start. waited about 10 minutes. tried it again and it started right up and drove the rest of the way home.
Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it?

Usually this type of problem traces back to either a crank position sensor or a bad fuel pump. There a number of other items that can do this as well but you really need some diagnostic testing before replacing anything.

Crank sensor. Next time it does this spray some water on it and see if it cranks. Its by the crankshaft pulley towards front of car.

I have the same car, a few weeks ago on the way home from work the car just quit, i had it towed to my garage and the next morning i called the mechanic and he wanted to know what was wrong with it as he got in and it started right away. He found out it was the crank position sensor that had to be replaced cars been fine ever since.

92 Buick LeSabre Blower Door Closes after 15-20 minutes

I'm fairly sure that model still uses a vac control for the hvac. You may have a vac leak in one of the lines, the main controller, or one of the blend doors. The blend doors are under the dash and may be difficult to reach.

2000 buick lesabre stall after starting or after running for 30 minutes

I have a 1996 Lesabre. I had a similar problem that slowly got worse. I brought it to two different mechanics that did diagnostic checks and could only "suggest" what to replace to fix the problem. Their problem was that it wouldnt stall out while they had the mv. After replacing a bunch of sensors and the fuel pump/ filter, I solved the problem by replacing the Crank Sensor. Its located behind the lower crank pulley on the 3.8 lt motor. Hope this helps!

My check engine light comes on and then goes off this has been going on for several weeks. What is the cause?

It could be a loose or bad fuel filler cap. Make sure your filler cap is in place and tight.
It also could be the grade of fuel you are getting, sometimes just a different grade of fuel, or lesser quality of fuel can make it come on for a time and then go off.
You can disconnect your battery for up to 20 to 30 minutes to clear the codes and reset it.
If it comes back on after you do this, you need to have a diagnostic tool hooked up to it and have the codes read, and act accordingly.
