2002 Lincoln Town Car I have hot air blowing from the vents.

I replaced the heater core. Initially everything worked except no air was blowing through the passenger vents. Now, no air blows through the vents, only through the defrost and the floor and it's only hot air. I charged the AC, thinking that may have been the problem, but it's still only blowing hot air.

SOURCE: Dual Temperature controls inside - 2002 lincoln ls

The problem is most likely a bad dual climate control valve. This component is located on the right side near the radiator under the hood. It will have several coolant hoses hooked to it and 2 silver cylinders protruding from it. You can clamp off the heater hoses at the heater core and see if both sides cool then and this will tell you that the valve is letting coolant thru when it shouldn't be.

This will narrow it down to either the valve or the control head inside the car,or wiring in between them. The only way to narrow it down further is if you have a scan tool that could access the climate control data. Have seen several of these valves cause this concern and have only seen one control head cause it.

SOURCE: climate controls

Car manufacturers use the defrost mode as a default for safety reasons. Being they want you to be able to defrost the windshield no matter what. So when something goes wrong the system automatically goes to the defrost mode. You most likely don't have the vacuum hose connected under the dash at the climate control assy. Or if this vehicle doesn't use the vacuum hose style you may have not plugged in one of the connectors under the dash or behind the climate control assy. Good luck.

To fix the AC unit which blows hot air all the time. Seems like you have a small leak in the system or the AC compressor has gone out. Suggest you try recharging the unit. Make sure you have the correct R-22 or 134A freeon. If this work for a few days then have the leak fixed, if this doesn't work replace the compressor. Check Ebay for the compressor i obtained one for $100.00. Cost $450 at Auto Zone.

Heater blows only cold air. in and out hose are both hot, what could it be.

The door that mixes hot and cold air seems stuck in the cold air position. Check for a vacuum hose leak.

The heater core gets hot but only luke warm air will blow out on floor or defroster

Check to see if the air coming from the vent is also lukewarm. If it is and assuming the coolant level is fine, the most likely cause is a bad thermostat. If the air coming from the vent is hot, you may have an issue with the blend door which determines air flow.

Heater blows only cols air- one line going into heater core is hot, the other cold.....1994 lincoln town car

sounds like a restricted heater core. if you remove the heater hoses from the engine, pour some cooling system cleaner in. let it sit for 10 or 20 minutes, then you can flush with a garden hose.

1998 Town Car A/C Blows Hot Air But Is Charged Up

Hi - There may be 2 separate problems. On my 1991 Lincoln Town Car, there is a Thermal Blower Lockout sensor that disables the heater from blowing until the engine temperature reaches a specific temperature. This way if you have vent or floor settings and 90 degrees set and it is winter, you won't get blasted with cold air. When the vehicle warms up, the TBL circuit enables the climate control to blow the hot air. If you use the flr/def instead of the floor or vent control, the TBL should not prevent the heater from working even with a cold engine. On my car, the TBL went bad and always prevented hot air from blowing on the floor and vent settings, even when the engine was hot. Another thing to check is a thermal limitor resistor. It is designed to cut off the blower at very hot temperatures, except if the blower fan is in the hi setting.

As far as the A/C is concerned, can you verify if the clutch is engaging or not? A rapid cycling of the clutch is an indication of low freon. If you are absolutely sure that you are fully charged on freon, I think there are 2 possible causes: (1) Bad pressure switch on the accumulator is indicating low freon that is telling the compressor not to work; (2) a blocked orifice tube.

Air only blows hot on 96 lincoln

Sounds like the heater and a/c blend door actuator. It is located under front center of dash below windshield. Dash must be removed to replace it. I've done it several times.

No heat

You have a heater valve that controls hot air/cold air flowing thru your vents. Heater valve is most likely stuck and in need of replacement.

Your baffle for the heating system is often vacuum powered meaning it runs from vacuum lines off the engine. Check your vacuum lines for cracks
