Just pull the abs fuse ,anything that disables the motor will leave you with "old fashioned" brakes. No abs but base brakes will be fine .ABS light will stay on .
Did you bleed your brakes? If you didn,t there is air in the lines ,This will cause the light to stay on, Or you might have a (Faulty) ABS sensor on one of the brakes,
The ABS light is for the ABS system which uses the hydraulic system but also has its own components. You would need to have the body computer checked for trouble codes to proceed.
The back light on the radio is probably bad and sounds like there is an issue with your ABS system. When the light is lit your ABS is disabled. Does not mean that your brakes will not work, it means that your anti-lock brakes will not work.
generally when the light comes on you have a bad wheel speed sensor or abs unit soleniod . the wheel speeed sensor might be all part of the wheel bearing itself .the brakes will continue to work properly you just wont have the anti lock feature
Hi:
The ABS light on means an ABS malfunction. You should be able to have a auto parts store scan your car and find out what code is tripped, for free, but my guess is that one of your front wheel speed sensors is out of whack, or dirty or something.
When the light is on, your normal brakes work fine, but you have no ABS, so your car will take longer to stop in emergency situations.
your brakes are fine it's just telling you that the abs is no longer on . This means if you have a panic stop you may risk locking your brakes up. It could be on becasue one of the sensors is gone bad or the module.
