VIN doesn't matter. You need to read the serial number from radio housing. Then go to your dealer. Sometimes you'll be happy and get the code for free. Sometimes dealers charge for this. You can also try to ask some independent specialists. Anyway: the start point is serial no. of the radio.

in most cases you can leave the key on ign, engine off for one hour and the radio will reset its self.... it works at our shop all the time ,, you may need a jump box if you battery is weak. turn all assy s off to conserve power.

SOURCE: volvo v40 p ref radio says code where do i get

Radio code is specific for each and every car. It is specific like anti theft code.

So you can get it by providing your VIN# and registration details in authorised dealership.Nobody else can provide you. If anybody can provide you that , then there is no meaning of security for your car..

Need radio code for Volvo v40, 1996 model

Did the V40 exist all the way back in 1996? Either way, they are usually tied to the VIN, so if the radio is original to the car, you can go to the local Volvo dealership and have them get the code by typing in your VIN into their computers.

Good luck!

Radio code not working. How to unlocka VolvoV40 radio with code ?

If you're lucky, a previous owner wrote it on the radio itself, so if you slide it out a bit you might see it. Alternatively there is a card in the owner's manual that should have the radio code. In my car the card was white with red stripes.

Good luck!
