I have a 2004 Dode Ram 1500 with 5.7 Hemi with 216,700 miles. The vehicle has never had a mechanical breakdown before. Now I am getting a whining noise from the rear end of the vehicle. The transmission shifts into all gears with no problem. The whining get louder at about 50 miles per hour.

2004 ram 1500 with 5.7 hemi using 1 quart every 3,000 miles

Slide a large piece of cardboard under the truck after driving for ten minutes note in which area directly above the spot on the cardboard the oil is coming from then get under the vehicle with a drop light to look for the origin of the leak, if no leak is detected then it may be the engine is burning oil this could either be valve stem seals or broke or worn oil rings.

No heat

No heat can mean low coolant in the radiator. Check that. Also would mean you have a coolant leak. Might possibly be a restricted heater core. Possibly a blend door in the dash that quit working. Thermostat could be faulty allowing coolant to flow continuously.
