1992 Lincoln continental steering problem

I was driving my 1992 Lincoln Continental the other day and as I was turning I heard a popping noise. I parked and found out that there was power steering fluid leaking from some sort of pipe that connects the front passenger tire to the steering column, and now I cant turn this tire at all from the steering wheel. It seems to have threads and I think it just screws back on but I cant get it to reach. If anyone has any suggestions or links to power steering diagrams please help

Your inner tie rod end either broke at the ball joint or it was not installed properly and came loose from the steering rack. Either way there should have been an issue with the steering prior to the popping noise. If there is power steering fluid there had to be damage to the rack and pinion unit and it will have to be replaced.

My 97 Lincoln Continental whines when I turn corners. I can't afford to take it to a mechanic. What can I do?

try adding lucas power steering fix to it if it gets low in fluid. or try to take some out and add the lucas to it. It should help with the noise and the lockup.

'89 Lincoln Continental pops, grinds and is very difficult to turn. There is also a leak from some component coming from under the car. Without force, car cannot turn at all.

It sounds like the "Rack and Pinion steering" could be bad. But the other sounds can easily be balljoints or tierods.

In any case the best thing to do is get an estimate for repair from an alignment shop. Then you can call around if you wish and see how fair the price is.

The longer you wait, the more stuff will be damaged and if certain parts are bad, it is dangerous to drive.
