How stop the serpentine belt from fallen off the tensioner on a 1993 town & country. Is there a aftermarket pulley wheel for that tensioner to replace the flaw problems.

I noticed when I splash through puddles while driving my van (chrysler town & country) the serpentine belt falls off. I wondering what I have to do to prevent this problem.

My 1991 Grand Caravan did that too. It had the 3.3L engine just the the T&C (91-93). The tensioner was the problem, hit a puddle on the right side and you'd feel the power steering go and then right away the engine would start to heat up. I tried making the belt come off, but could never duplicate it, only splashing through puddles of rain or wet slush would do it. I never found a tensioner with shoulders on it, but a new one like the original fixed it.

take your time and make sure the belt grooves are seated in every pulley or u will never get it on, there is a belt run diagram under the hook.

It should show the diagram on the radiator top panel...or up on the hood. If not, go to the library and look it up in a manual.

Replace the belt tensioner. This is a common problem. They also have a pulley available for the tensioner that has edges on it to keep this from happening.

There is a youtube video that shows how to change the serpentine belt/tensioner/idler, but on my 2005, the tensioner looks OEM and doe snot have a squared off end to easily use a wrench to turn.

I think I have a sepentine tool (flat with square 3/8's drive) I can use to turn the tensioner.

It sounds like it to me. Your van has a serpentine belt which is pulled tightly by the tensioner pulley, hint the name "tension" pulley. If this is defective you will experience the problems/symptoms you have listed, hard steering, over heating, and the clunking,which must be the defective tension pulley. All those problems should resolve immediately after it is replaced. Don't forget to replace the serpentine belt too, for preventative measures. How this helps...

Serpentine belt how to change

Take some time and be safe... Put a stop block behind the rear tires, Jack up car just enough to get front wheels off ground and put jack stands under it. Remove right front tire (for ease of access), Remove plastic shield from around lower pulley, usually a couple of push in trees or 10 mm screws. Room is tight, but a 1/2" breaker bar will fit into the square hole in the tensioner, take tension off belt with one hand and remove it from the nearest pulley, then slowly let off on the breaker bar. Now you need to remove the belt from around the crank pulley and such. Reinstall by fishing it down around the crank pulley first....Has worked for me in the past!

What would cause difficulty in putting on a serpentine belt? The car squeeks when the belt was on before, now it is difficult to put on the belt in order to see what causes the problem.

Make sure that you have identified the tensioner pulley as apposed to the idler pulley. With the 15mm socket on the tensioner pulley's bolt, rotate it clockwise and this will release the tension on the belt, or in the case of installing a new serpentine belt, allow you to get it where it belongs. The serpentine belt on my 1997 Chrysler, Town & Country came off so, I put a new one on and now the new one is running really close to the outside edge of the tensioner pulley. Any idea what would...

If nothing else has replaced(alt,H2O pump) chances are the tensioner is bad,the bushings wear out and it "guides" the belt off course,if the belt is off you can check it for side to side play,(there should be none)

How to change serpentine belt on 1993 Olds Cutlass Ciera V6 motor

Click on the following direct Link. It has the Serpentine Belt Diagrams that you will need for your specific engine size and options (AC/No AC...etc).

Standard Rules to Removal the Serpentine Belt with a Tensioner:
1. Find the Tensioner(s). (See Diagrams on Link)
2. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool, Or Wrench OR Ratchet, Rotate/Move the Tensioner USING THE AVAILABLE NUT (on the Pulley or Arm Base) OR the OPENING (3/8ths or 1/2 inch square opening) rotating it\moving it away from contact with the belt and towards the area where the belt is not in contact with the Tensioner Pulley. The Tensioner is spring loaded, and is hard to rotate/move.
3. Remove the loosened belt off one of the other more easily accessed Pulleys.

Standard Rules for Installing the Serpentine Belt with Tensioners:
a. Pick a Pulley that is most easily accessed. This will usually be on top. This will be the last Pulley that the belt will go on.
b. Using the Diagram: Install the new Serpentine Belt on the remainder of the Pulleys....over, under, left right.
c. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool or Wrench or Ratchet Tool: Rotate/Move the Tensioner Pulley/Arm "away" from Belt contact area on the Tensioner. This spring is pretty hard and with a new belt, it will be even harder to install. Rotate/Move this to as-close to the maximum allowed inorder to have enough slack in the belt to get it up and over the last pulley.
d. Using your other hand - Pull the Belt up and over the Last remaining Pulley.
e. Before releasing the pressure on the Tensioner, visually inspect the remainder Pulleys and the Belts' Positioning on them

Replace serpentine belt 96 town & country, also does the tensioner ever freeze up?

Any bearing mounted pulley can "freeze" if a bearing wears out. The most common result it it can burn up a belt which will break with the engine running. When it snaps it MIGHT damage anything it hits - usually with no bad results. ANY bad pulley (or pulley driven part such as the alternator) needs to be replaced before a new belt is installed or the new belt will be damaged from the friction. To replace the serpentine belt - there should be a belt routing decal on the underside of the hood or on the shroud covering the radiator.

My belt keeps coming off when the weather is wet. I have replaced the belt twice and the splashguard once. I really do not know what else to do. My husband is disabled and thankfully he hasn't been with me...

Sounds like a bad tensioner. Some cars have automatic tensioners and some are manual. If yours is manual, you just need to pull it tighter with a torque wrench. If it is an automatic tensioner, it will have to be replaced. Pretty easy, just unbolt the old one and bolt the new one on.

Describe your 1999 Chrysler Town & Country Problem, Belt replacement , cna't seem to get belt tensioner to move when trying to remove belt.

The belt tensioner actually has a locking feature on it. Once the tensioner is in place you are supposed to tighten the bolt center of the tensioner pully which locks in in place. Try loosening this bolt slightly and then moving the tensioner.

theres a belt tensioner look 4 a pulley thats on the end of a arm or isnt a pump theres a nut on the outer part of the pulley use a wrench 2 move it back n forth wrap the belt around all pulleys save the tensioner 4 last and should slip rite on
